I suddenly feel a need to hold my Mojave Eiichi hagi....a lot of similarity in the style of these cups. Love the combination of delicate greens and orange and yellow in the glaze of yours, and the graceful opening of the top of the cup.

Got this for my girlfriend, she always complains " I want a bigger cup" I have no idea why because she still only drinks about four ounces of tea at a time. Anyway this cup makes her happy so thats cool.

Beautiful vase, David!
I've been keeping my eye our for a small Hagi vase for over a year now. Nothing popped up on the "usual sources".
Did you buy this one in Japan or online?

Thank you Stentor ! I bought it directly in Hagi a few years ago, even if it may not be the best place to find nice things. The town is full of shops with very commercial items, not very good quality.
It is 22 cm high. I first bought it to make a lamp out of it, but the result was disappointing, so I switched back to its original purpose : the hanaire.
I guess you could contact Mago if you have an idea of what you want. I am sure he will manage to find you something nice.

David R.,
you have mentioned this before and as i previously replied i won't repeat myself, except to point out there are many excellent shops and studios to purchase the top hagi potters' works to less well known potters. if time allows it is worth going out of the city center to visit some kilns and studios. i think it would be a mistake not to explore hagi city (avoiding the commercial shops) to buy high quality, beautiful hagiyaki.

same for Seigan's kiln
and for Deishi shibuya and Eiichi too, because i'm mad about their works !

I guess my timing was bad because during the couple of days I was there a lot of things were closed (galleries I found in travelling guides and so on). I was a bit disappointed considering how relatively easy it is to find good Hagi ware on the net, but I had a very good time nonetheless enjoying Hagi's life. The fact that I don't speak Japanese doesn't help I guess. But of course, I imagine that there are indeed a lot of things to see there... Next time, I'll dig deeper !

Even if my next priority would be to go to Iga and Shigaraki...

People have told me some of these Deishi Chawans are BIG. Lets hope this helps people relate.

The middle sized piece is similar to the SO pieces Deishi did though mine might be a hair smaller. The smallest one is a Guinomi that holds about 70ml of liquid.
