Is that Silver Tips Tea Room I see?
Very nice, you are on a glorious and noble, if not "nerdy," path.

Yes, Silver Tips is in Tarrytown, two towns north on the Hudson River from where I am at the moment (I've lived in CT, IN, OR, but staying with the parents in NY for another week, then moving into a college dorm, bec. at 24 I am going back to school!)
Have you been, or ordered from them (Silver Tips, not my parents)? Decent selection of Indian Tea. The physical tearoom clientele is kind of yuppie-soccer-mom, as opposed to tea connoisseur, not that they are mutually exclusive. Come to think of it, I haven't actually found a tearoom where the majority of the clientele knows the first thing about tea...
Anyway! I was very impressed to discover that the woman who runs Silver Tips is part of the family that owns the Makabairi-Estate! Pretty cool...

I ordered from them a lot a year or so ago, but have since moved on as my taste for Inidan declined. You are quite right, they have a good selection. Did you get to meet Anupa?
Its kind of eeire actually, looking at your pictures. Its like you're me a year ago. If that's the case, and you and I are on the same path, a bit of advice: get the second job now, cos this (oops, almost said it) #$@% is going to get expenisve.
Good luck on going back to school.

Thank you.
I got them here and there. The tasting cups and shui pin came from Imperial Tea Court. The blue-ish xi shi came from Silk Road Trade, and the brown xi shi came from Yunnan Sourcin; both are eBay stores. The fair cup is just Taiwanese, and it came from Rishi, but it meshes well with the Yixing stuff.

I would be mostly interested in that brown set you posted on the first page of this topic( http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a24/sp ... Yixing.jpg ). That's the kind of yixing i was looking for so i'd really appreciate if you could help me out with this one!

Ah, I see.
The pitcher and table came from Rishi, everything else was Imperial Tea Court.

Picked these up at a local Asian Grocery, they were labeled as from Japan.

Nifty box from the Container Store (the Tribeca Box, from the closets section), perfect for keeping tea....
And yet I am, interestingly enough, a heterosexual!

Yes, sometimes it just seems wrong to be straight and still have these urges! Well, I guess there's room for all of us in this big ole world, whatever our sexual disorientation.joelbct wrote:And yet I am, interestingly enough, a heterosexual!
{BTW, joelbct, thanks for confirming that the dream Assam has existed at least at some time in the past, even less than 8 years ago.}
