Don't. Life is too short to waste it with an ungershparter schmuck.
Did you try the ocha Yame gyokuro?
HA, nice and subtle subject change.

11 pages of the brittster here. I have quite had my fill.

So, which did you open Pentox?
I haven't popped either yet. I have a strong inkling to do so, but I recently only open something when i'm ready to do my full tasting for it for reasons of optimal freshness. So it's probably coming tomorrow or sat. I need to find a good tin to store them in too.

Well, I was going to put up a modicum of defense for Britt- So what if he's a bit eccentric, addled, and/or opinionated. That's better than being humdrum, and besides I like his taste in Teaware. Maybe I've just missed the posts that are offending you guys.

But now he is arguing against Global Warming? That about crosses the line in my book...

I think it's safe to say that Britt has a strong contrarian streak.

If this is going to be a global warming echo chamber, you might find me to be pretty contrarian too.

I'd be interested in seeing the counter evidence to global warming.

The problem is the dire need of liberal politicians, media, and a list of people who are famous for being famous need to cling to the idea that anthropogenic causes of climate change are unanimously supported by "Scientists".

The fact is that 72 Nobel Prize winners and 4,000 other scientists have endorsed the Heidelberg Appeal, which casts doubt on the kneejerk carbon alarmism.

Also, quoting:
From 1998 through 2007 the Oregon Petition ("Global Warming Petition"), sponsored by Dr. Frederick Seitz, former president of the National Academy of Sciences, was signed by 17,200 scientists including 2,660 physicists, geophysicists, climatologists, meteorologists, oceanographers, and environmental scientists. It urged the US to reject the Kyoto Protocol.

The way this idea has been sold to Americans I find dishonest at best.

I will find for you later an interesting piece a journalist did on the global warming related articles on Wikipedia. Alarmists went to great efforts to remove any "contrarian" viewpoint, going as far as to claim that a scientist had recanted his statements when he had done no such thing.

Indeed, you can also find "scientists" who say that the world has been around for only 5000 years.

From a book I read recently:

"The Right exploits a misconception about science common among nonscientists--a belief that uncertainty in findings indicates fatally flawed research. Because most cutting-edge science--including most research into currently controversial topics--is uncertain, it is dismissed as junk. This naive understanding of science hands the Right a time-tested tactic. It does not claim that business interests or moral values trump the scientific consensus. Rather rightists argue that the consensus itself is flawed. Then they encourage a debate between the consensus and the extremist naysayers, giving the two apparently equal weight.

Apparently this tactic of subverting scientific findings has worked very well in America.

I don't know. I'm thinking our Britt may continue to proceed with random accusations about my cheap teapots and tea as long as we just leave him to it. He's dropped the lead business as the evidence so far doesn't support it and I'm thinking he may drop other accusations if taken to task on them.

Personally I think he could be a decent part of the community if he became a little more restrained with the random shit flinging. I can't see ignoring his posts changing that. I've seen many people on internet forums get very aggressive when posters point out the ad hominem, straw men etc and then digest the points and become far more productive members. I'd rather not see him banned or ignored before he at least completes a run in with GGU or whoever is willing to spend the time and patience pointing out that it is not his opinion concerning China that is the problem but the idea that anyone who does not subscribe to his arbitrary safety precautions is a moron.

Also I'm pretty sure he is not a troll in my understanding of the word, as in he's not just posting to wind up the community whilst he sits back and laughs.

As I see it his behavior is unacceptable and we either ignore it, ban it or try to alter it. I'd be for trying to change it, expecting a modicum of unpleasantness during this period, and then having either a restrained Britt or a banned Britt.

Well, given a choice, I would rather have him than not since he can make a real contribution.

Chip, how did things play out in the O-Cha forum, finally. Is he still a member in good standing?

These technical logical fallacy and bias terms are fascinating, makes me want to take a logic class... Perhaps we are all just demonstrating "Confirmation bias, — the tendency to search for or interpret information in a way that confirms one's preconceptions!" There's a whole list of misconceptions too... apparently Lemmings do not engage in suicidal dives off cliffs when migrating, and eskimo's have only 4 words for snow.

Gosh, between all these misconceptions, biases, and logical fallacy's, its a wonder humanity ever makes any sense at all! Or is that just an example of the "Base Rate" fallacy.... Image

Sal, I think I mentioned this here before, this thread maybe.

I actually PMed him after epic battles over there. Bottom line, after that, all of a sudden he turned into a kitten and remained that way for some time. He signed up here, I PMed him again, best foot forward.

He seemed pretty good for a while, but there were topics that he cannot resist arguing about.

I believe he can be a good member, a valuable addition, but I am tired of keeping him out of trouble. I am not his guardian and at some point he has to "get it" on his own w/out constant reminding.

I may PM him, not sure. He has said some things that are pretty hard to simply forget, but then, I have also said some pretty intense things here that I suspect are hard to forget.

We are all human and royally screw up sometimes.
blah blah blah SENCHA blah blah blah!!!
