I disagree. The contrasty light adds drama. I love it just as it is.joelbct wrote: Nope, a halogen lampA little harsh w/ the direct lighting. Probably would be best to use a big white diffuser shield but hey, ya work with what ya got... And a granite countertop, works well for shooting tea ware.
Sorry, I guess MarshalN has a little of that mysterious Asian thing. The teeth are one of the things that made me leap to gaiwan!chamekke wrote: So it's still a mystery. I agree that the "teeth" on the spout do make it look Japanese.

hehe. lucky finds. the bird one had a picture on ebay about 100x100 pixels. the description was something like: wood plate looks nice on wall, shiny. I bid $2 and lucked out.
The other was another poorly described thing on ebay. Wasn't even looking for saucers, was looking for an out of print comic actually. It came up as a random item from a buy-it-now bookseller. Go figure. (that one cost me a teensy bit more.

That's impressive. I figured they were a pair too, interesting you found them separately. Do you have any idea as to how old they are? I actually haven't seen many inlaid chataku like that, are they Japanese or Western? Curious...GeekgirlUnveiled wrote:hehe. lucky finds. the bird one had a picture on ebay about 100x100 pixels. the description was something like: wood plate looks nice on wall, shiny. I would almost throw in an extra $18 to the seller just cuz it seems wrong to see something like that go for $2
