My hagi yunomi “collection”. I like having a little snack (cookie or biscuit) with my tea so that’s why I always try to get a matching plate for my teacups.
These are from Tokoname

Thanks for comments! Now I'm going to bed, it's really late here in Finland and I should have been sleeping hours ago...

Ritva, your photos - and your teawares! - are absolutely gorgeous.
More, more please.
And may I ask where you bought the kyusu in this photo. I think I just bought its cousin at a local consignment shop!
My new baby as of yesterday (although I do like the shape of Rivka's much better!):

Thank you! My kyusu is from Hibiki-an and it's banko-yaki. It has lovely silverish mauve sheen that I guess comes from the clay. It's heavier than my tokoname kyusu that is about the same size (320 ml).

It really does look very similar! It's lovely. This is so unfair, I have never seen a kyusu in a shop in here, not to mention consignment shops!

Finally decided I will post some pictures of my stuff. Nothing very fancy; some of you have very nice teaware.
My usual green tea drinking cup:
And another angle:
My latest kyuusu:
Some other cups that I've actually seen some others with I think:
I have some others around that I'll post up eventually.

Nice stuff. Thanks for sharing. Yes, I think those little fishy cups have traveled a lot! With good reason: they are wonderful!

I agree, it would be wonderful if everyone could discover such finds locally. I am lucky in this respect, probably only because I live on the Pacific coast and in a town with many Japanese visitors.*
But if it's any consolation, I think your kyusu is much nicer than mine, in terms of both its sensuous shape and its lovely glaze
Also, thanks for letting me know that it's banko-ware. I suppose that my little guy might be the same? Some tokoname pots look very similar; I wonder how to tell the difference?

*Another Japanese product that shows up in abundance in second-hand shops is the furoshiki, or Japanese wrapping cloth. It seems that many Japanese visitors give a furoshiki to their hosts as a thank-you present. The host (sometimes following an abortive attempt to wear the furoshiki as a scarf) finally gives up and donates the cloth to a charity. I won't even begin talking about my furoshiki collection!

From my very limited experience (I own 3 kyusus) I would say that banko-yaki is heavier and "more rough" in appearance. I've seen some webshop with lots of banko-yaki kyusus. One thing in common seemed to be the large spots of glazing that our kyusus have as well. I'll see if I can still find the link.
And here's some more photos:
The little things in the left are gifts from the hagiyaki shop, they are chopstick rests.

Greenish cups:

My teaware cabinet. The shelves were bent BEFORE I moved in...
