Not really... only once, in Paris... but I didn't drink much tea back thenminor_glitch wrote:Maneki Neko wrote:I had never tasted genmaicha before...I take it you've never been to a sushi restaurant?
But somehow this camera refuses to capture that beautiful green colourThe special point about this sencha's cultivation is that just prior to harvesting the grower directly covers the tea bushes for about 7 days with black netting which blocks around 50% of sunlight. This coverage is similar to kabusecha, only shorter. The coverage does two things, it causes the leaf pigment to become greener, and increases the amino acid and chlorophyll content in the new growth. The purpose behind this is to give the resulting tea a greener infusion color and a sweeter deeper taste.

Matcha came today! Mixed it in a normal bowlhow sacrilege!
It looks pretty foamy, though I hope to do even better. The Matcha was much "greener" than I thought ti would be but I'm already excited about having some tomorrow.
The little canister won't last long!
I'm waiting for what might be a too-small chawan to coem in the mail. I want to at least try it before buying a bigger one.
Still have not found one that I like. Is it too much to want it to be pink?
