Hey, if you meant the vases, i have used them with some flowers, but also just displayed empty.

I would love to show them with a nice flower or leaf, but unfortunately i don't have a working camera at the moment

Any reason to be wary of the $30-40 "Hagi" sets on ebay? I've been eying a few similar to this...

...but I have my reservations. More often than not you get what you pay for, and that has me a bit nervous.

The $45 EMS shipping doesn't help either.

Tenpozan kiln mass produces Hagi-Yaki. There is nothing wrong with it, it is simply made by someone who we will never know the name of. It is good to have if you are worried about breaking an artisan set ... or for travel.

This is the master potter whose kiln it is. It is a kiln, not a factory. So assess the work and see if it appeals to you it. No issues with quality in my opinion.

After weeks of working overtime, i stumbled on the perfect present for my tired mind 'n body! Pretty much self-explanatory:)

A superb lavender clouds form on the surface of this cool White Hagi Guinomi by important Hagi artist Kaneta Masanao enclosed in the original wooden box.The style is Kurinuki, not formed on a wheel but cut and worked from a block of clay, an approach the artist is famous for. Masano likely needs no introduction, certainly one of Hagi's most well known names, he has been displayed both nationally and internationally innumerable times. His pieces are in the collection of the Tokyo National Museum of Modern Art, Yamaguchi Prefectural Museum and Museum of Modern Art Brooklyn. He has been displayed at the Nihon Dento Kogei Ten and Nihon Togei Ten among many many others.

There is something about Kaneta Masanao's pieces that can only be felt, and not described or even viewed. They truly are stunning, I treasure my Yunomi so much.

There is something about Kaneta Masanao's pieces that can only be felt, and not described or even viewed. They truly are stunning, I treasure my Yunomi so much.

To tell you the truth i haven't used it yet Its so perfect.

But you're right, they come with a certain feel that is very hard to describe, but for me it brings a sense of comfort as if its been made for your hands, the surface is so smooth yet softly disturbed its hard to describe how one of his cups or chawan look..

One part of the yunomi i received has the scene of a valley when seen in the right angle, its nearly a scenic work:) Very glad i grabbed it quickly

I have been eyeing similar yunomi to that first one--the geometric/cubist shape plus the soft swirly pillowy glaze is a lovely combination. Yours is a quite lovely example.

Thank you - although everytime i see it i imagine a small farmer climbing on it like a ladder.. Which i like don't get me wrong
