Yes - Maitre Tea. The one in Hong Kong is the original shop. The Taiwan one is just a copy with no relationship to them at all.Maitre_Tea wrote:Is that the same tea shop that also commissioned the original famous series of pots back in the 70s (?)TIM wrote:*snip*
A new sets of old gaiwan from 祥興茶行 - xiáng xīng chá háng Hong Kong. With a late Ming, early Qing's QingBai tea cup for my wife.

Whoa, coolness!!! I'll tale 10 of them.
Great teaware everyone, thanks for sharing with us!
I am working on the camera issue in earnest, so hopefully will have some photos to share soon.

Re: Show Off Your Pots and Cups XII
Victoria asked me to share pics of my new paint-your-own pottery cup. I will be the first to admit that I'm no great artist - and I clearly need a LOT more practice! But here it is:
This is the "front" view that you see when holding the cup. I am left-handed so put the design where I can see it when I take a drink. (Most cups put the design on the right-handed side)

A couple more views of the design as it goes around the cup:

And Victoria, it's purple inside!

Not the best color for "viewing" your tea, but who really does that first thing in the morning? And when else would you use such a huge cup?

Very nice. I too am left handed and have all of my Yixing teapots specially made left handed.
Re: Show Off Your Pots and Cups XII
My new celadon 60ml (2 oz) gaiwan, from Dragon Tea House.
My 100ml gaiwan looks huge next to it. Only criticism is the handle gets a little hot, but I can live with that.

iannon - Nice! Love footed pots and love the green clay! My favorite yixing is green.
TIM - you find the best "old" wares!! Nice gaiwan find!
IPT - Wow!! that glaze is stunning!! Really beautiful.
<sigh>
Olivier - wow, that is a stunner! I would love to see your whole collection some day. And yeah Geek, that one is beautiful! Both of these I would feel compelled to own if I were collecting. I am kinda relieved I don't have the room and have stopped myself from heading down that path!! For now, heh.
Geeber - Nice job & I love the purple!! How does this "paint your own" thing work? Is it refired? Or do you just add paint to a plain fired mug?
bongoman - sweet little gaiwan!! Love that smooth celadon. Makes for a nice little cup too when not using as a gaiwan. Now that your fingers are "conditioned" by the Duan Ni yixing, it shouldn't be that bad, ha!

You choose your item, paint with whatever glaze/design you want, then they fire it for you. It's a fun thing to do on a cold day or evening!Victoria wrote:How does this "paint your own" thing work? Is it refired? Or do you just add paint to a plain fired mug?

That's pretty cool, how long does the firing take?geeber1 wrote:You choose your item, paint with whatever glaze/design you want, then they fire it for you. I'm not sure. We got our stuff back a little over a week after we painted it. I think it depends on whether they have enough items to fill their kiln.
