The not much smaller is about 3.7"w x 3.9"h.
3.7''w seems really narrow for a chawan... do you have any difficulty with the wisking?

That would seem to be the logic, but, in a conversation with him, he told me he uses Bizen and Shiga clays, sometimes mixed together.

Viewer discression advised.....

Speaking of which...

I mentioned the crystallized chadamari, and now here is a shot of them:

I'm curious - is there a term for this crystallized chadamari?

Haven't gotten to the day's matcha yet.

Soon...

Seeker,

I don't know if there is a term or not, however the crystallization is probably either soda ash or glass chips sprinkled into the bottom before firing. BTW the glaze looks to be a copper red......

Cheers,

Look, what a pretty chawan. Ah, what a nice pink reflection of my pink pajama pants.

Is that eggs and toast I spy? How lovely.

Let's have a look at that gorgeous matcha now, shall we?

Oh.

Pink pajamas, over easy eggos, with a cool blue chawan full of chai!

Love it!

Copper reds contain a TINY percentage of copper in the base glaze. Not really an issue.

Thus, today's matcha is in an Ao Tebineri by Yamane Seigan.

Cheers everyone, and I wish you happy and joyous holidays, happy and joyous week, and that whatever you're experiencing, you meet and ride your experience well. Peace.
I may not post again until next week, as I'll be traveling for Christmas.
But then again, I might just have to bring along some matcha  , we'll see.
You never know...

Thanks Vic!
This is my second one, and this one is significantly bigger than the first one.
Good for matcha! :D (this one's about 4" x 4").
Sorry about the sizing thing - I'm experimenting with photobucket for the first time this morning and don't quite have it down yet. :? (had to resize the image to get the post to work, but still I notice they're encroaching on the avatar, hmmph; think I'll go to flickr and have a looksee what size I was using for posts there).
Happy Holidays to you and yours too!!!
:)
