I see the Ito En bags in the storage box. I have a few of those bags from over a year ago. Worthless yet somewhat cool tea paraphernalia just never gets tossed.

Yup the bags are nice.

BTW, u should be proud, I am down to 2-4oz/water with the Matcha, w/ 2-3 chashaku scoops... I like the taste at the higher concentration.

Now the only question is, do I splurge on the Uji Matcha Manten, or is $60 for 30 grams of matcha not worth the price? I am wondering, especially since I think I preferred the regular Kaoru to the Kaoru Supreme, which doesn't taste as pronounced...

(sorry for off-thread-topic digression)

I recently jumped into matcha as well, and the Manten was the third matcha I bought. It was wonderful, but I was not, and am still not, experienced enough to fully enjoy and appreciated it; it was hard to diferentiate it between the Kiku Mukashi. My advice is to wait a while, unless you are just realy curious.

Some of my Japanese teaware.

Missing from photo: the obligatory Fukugata which is on my desk at work.

Obligatory is right. I think, like, at least half the frequent chatters here own one. Rishi must have made a killing.

Here is my traditional gyokuro set - it contains two small pots (50ml) and 5 small cups. In the picture there are normal sized pot (320ml) and yunomi at background.

Hi Photiou...we meet again.

Nice gyokuroware. I am looking at gyokuroware right now, where did you get yours and if I may ask, how much?

Have you ever heard of drop tea...really concentrated gyo that is brewed and drunk from a Japanese gaiwan type thing. I have heard the practice called a couple different names including Susuricha. Here is a link for the teaware made for this practice.

Hi,

I did send you a PM, Chip.

I have seen that Maiko page before, but I have not tried drop tea or know anything else about it. Maybe nearly the same thing if I use those small pots and make the tea just a bit stronger than usual.

augie, I got that at a local tea shop. She gets all of her stuff through Kotobuki Trading so if you know a tea shop that deals with them, you might be able to special order one. If you want me to try to order one through her, drop me a PM.

You could also try Takeyoshi Kojima over at Tokoname Teapots:

741 or 742 are almost just like it.
