Chip, wow! I adore the shape of those cups, wonderful. I might have to track down a set like that... you can never have too much hagi, right? Right? Amiright? :lol:

Actually if you look, one is "dark chocolate" and the other is "milk chocolate." :lol:

Yeah, my initial thought on them was it is not my prefered shape, but I instantly loved the bowl shape. Really quite adorable to see, but crazy cool to hold. I find myself holding it just like a chawan with one hand under and one supporting the "front side." BTW, they are 3 5/8" in diameter.

And of course, you can never have enough Hagi, nor enough display space it seems! :wink:

I like these which are more like a bowl versus a yunomi style. They hold over 6 ounces, a typical sencha brew for me and are larger than your current set.

So, SO beautiful... {sigh of wistfulness}

Here's my sole hagi. I'd say it has a decent patina, but the aperture makes it hard to see.

This thread is really making me want some loquat or korean hagi.

For Iannon and Trent, well, not FOR them, but for their viewing pleasure and yours!

Yamane Seigan chawan from "MAGOKORODO" in a gorgeous and lustrous loquat glaze. I really love the variable front, back, and sides, it is like a mural as I turn it revealing its full story turn by turn.

Looks a bit like a brain. :D But in a good way. Lovely, really.

I think I'd want to just sit and touch it to feel those contours... hypnotic.

Ooops, the last one was a repost. 8) I will make it up to you and offer another.

This is a notched foot chawan by Yamane Seigan, not for the faint of heart. It is piece that is not willing to be overlooked in appearance, size, or weight.

WOW Chip, awesome stuff! Your chawan is spectacular to behold, it looks extremely heavy, definately made for 'man-hands' :!:
And a few posts up, those cups are dynamite! When are you gonna show us your HagiWare Collection en masse? That would be a sight to behold. 8)

Thanks soooo much for sharing with us and giving us the 'gotta get hagi' wants :twisted:
