I usually resize to 500.
Although 600 will fit.

Re: Today's Matcha :D (new name, but tea's the same)
I always use 500. Mainly because flickr's "medium" option is 500xXXX, but if I resize and host elsewhere, I use 500x.
Re: Today's Matcha :D (new name, but tea's the same)
How do I tell photobucket to make an image 500x?

(your sadism is showing).
This is how lame/green, green beginner I am with photography.
I'm imagining you do that with a photo editor?
Which one should I use (without having to spend an arm and a leg, or acquire something that is way to complex for me - like photoshop)?
Merry Christmas to you and yours GG!

Sweet SO #11, Seeker! Oh, did I forget to mention, there are around 10 of these available ... in case you received some TeaBucks for the holidays!
Also nice despite the brown liquor in that C.L. Chawan, Geek!

Lighting was bad today and I know this is out of focus, but
That is the way today went. Out of focus.
This is such a beautiful chawan by Deishi, I hope someday to
capture it better. The inside is a lovely robin's egg blue.
Matcha is from O-cha.

Oh Victoria - Wow - that is such a beautiful chawan!
I can just imagine. I hope you will photograph and share it again!
Stunning.
I had focus issues today too - but had sunlight, don't understand. (for my rant you could read under 'how to photograph your teaware').
Gosh, your image is just resonating with me; what a great chawan.
Cheers!

That is very beautiful, Victoria. And photo-wise, your composition is nice, I like it. Your focus is on the back wall of the chawan, and the foot, which I take it was not what you wanted, but it does show some nice detail that we might not have seen had the face been in focus.
What does Deishi call that glaze? It's really pretty.
Seeker, sorry, I tease. You can resize images with lots of free programs, including your MS Office Picture Manager, which is usually part of the MS bundle. Also, your camera probably came with a basic image editing program, Canon's offerings are usually pretty good as far as that goes.

Thanks GG.
(I hope we get to see more of Vic's chawan )

I am unsure of the name of the glaze, but I know this chawan was wood fired in a "hole-kiln". (Which gives the yo-hen - lavender effect according to the wording from some of Mago's more pricey Deishi bowls listed. It was quite expensive but nothing like they are going for now.)
Here's Mago's vendor pics when I bought it. I may never capture it as well

Today's matcha - Wakamatsu in Robert Fornell Tengu.
Cheers!
(This one's about 5.5" at the base!)

Wow!...nice pic, really like the RF bowl. BTW, on my monitor the straight on view of the bowl measures exactly, 5.5". or full scale if you will.

Ohhh very nice!! Love the topline and the 2 almost fox faces in the glaze. It's measuring slightly over 9" on my monitor.

Thank you Vic and Michael.
I really, really like this bowl. The movement of the glaze patterns never ceases to capture me and draw me in. And it is a biggy. There's so much whisking room!
Well, I've made and completed my journey to family environs in So' Cal - and I did bring my travel chawan and matcha kit.
Only time will tell if I am able to get any camera time.
If not, maybe we'll get lucky and some more matcha-heads will share their bowls (and matcha of course).
Well, it's Christmas Eve now - Happy Christmas Eve to you all - I think of this holiday as an intentional time to invoke generosity, giving, caring, and goodwill. May it be so. May you find your generosity, your giving-ness, your caring, and your goodwill in ways you are able to share. We need it, we all need it. Peace to you.
Cheers.
