Yeah... that is one of Shinsaku-san's nicer yunomi. Think I'll go buy a Lottery ticket.
I have a pair of his (own all three generations work), but not as nice by any means as this one. Personally I think his work is a bit over-valued price wise, and Tomoo-san's is a bit undervalued.

Hi John,
I find your comments about this very interesting. His work (Shinsaku Hamada) seems to have a very low, resale value on these auction sites, especially when compared to his exhibition prices $$$ at Mitsukoshi ( I have some catalogs), which are as you say, very high. Amazingly, they are even higher in Boston. Sometimes I think his pots are brilliant, while others are almost too quiet, and put me to sleep.
I scored a quite nice, giant press molded henko of his for $78.00??!! His yunomi seem to sell for about $100 or less. I think this piece is actually a chawan, as it measures 10 x 11 cm? I could send you the link.
I think Tomoo's fame will only rise and his prices will undoubtedly get higher with time.
Best,
John

I'll take any one of these, but number 10 and 52 would be top picks..

How do you choose? From what I understand this was an exhibition for Hamada's 77th birthday, and so he either made or they exhibited 77 of his chawan.

Hi all,
these beauties are my friend's.
someone told him to be made of lao zhuni clay from the 70s.
Could someone here ascertain that they are indeed laozhunis from the 70s?
From the join line they look like fully hand made and thin walled, is it correct as i have never handled a real fully hand made pots before?
I really like them but fail to make my friend part with any of them
thanks in advance to any teachatters here that could help shed more light on the pots.

They look quite nice but I couldn't tell if they are laozhuni, especially in a photograph. Are they single holed?
