Wouldn't that be wonderful :D I'd love to open up my cupboard and find an 80cc newborn yixing baby.

Marshal, that's a gorgeous collection. (And if you ever have a runt of the litter that nobody else would love... )

You are posting here so many wonderful pieces of art and I wanted to take a look at artisticnippon. But yeah, it is banned in China. I would write what I think about that but it would probably get me banned on my first day here :)

I love clear teapots and vessels, too. The one transparent teapot I have is Adagio's IngenuiTea, which I use at my office very happily :D

You can feel free to contribute on this topic and include discussion on your experience with Artistic Nippon. We do ask you that you do not post links in your first month of membership...however, I do not think you are a spammer, so, if you want to include a link, you may.

Chip:

What links? :) I just wanted to use some bad words about Chinese government for banning website like Artistic Nippon [ha, even despair.com is banned].

I will buy a nice tea set in Shanghai soon so I will be able to contribute some photos then :)

I have just received a copper canister.
It is actually a little darker as in this picture.

Any advice for "cleaning" it?

Okay, I'll say it for you.

Mainland China, the world's largest junkyard, certainly doesn't want high quality, innovative items competing with their inferior garbage. Neither will they allow their citizens too much access to innovative cultures that might compete with their own backwards, state-indoctrinated one.

Japan has continued to advance and innovate, and their government encourages quality, innovation, arts and crafts.

Under the communists, China has placed itself back in the Dark Ages. There is no innovation under the communists because good citizens are trained to think as the state wishes them to think. Free thinking could someday result in the citizens realizing they're third world slaves and this could potentially threaten the communist party and their control of China.

China could learn much from Japan, but communists have extremely narrow vision. China is ahead of the world in manufacturing capacity, not quality. As long as we continue to subsidize those inferior $25 DVD players, we will continue to push ourselves out of jobs and into the third world.

Britt:

Since this is teachat, I think it's probably best to leave things confined to tea.

But let's just put it this way -- $25 DVD players exist because there are people who don't want to pay $30 for a player when they can get one for less, and guess what, those people exist in large numbers. Just like there are millions of people out there happily drinking Lipton "Brisk" tea teabags (which, I might add, is NOT a Chinese invention or its evil plan to pull the world down into the third world). We think those people are crazy, because those teabags are, well, awful, but people do it anyway, and any visit to the supermarket will tell you that those people exist in far larger number than the people who care about whether this cup of sencha is from Shizuoka or Uji.

China certainly has its way to go, no doubt, but it wasn't in the too distant past (40 years ago?) when "Made in Japan", "Made in Korea", or "Made in Taiwan" was considered a mark of inferiority for any product. China's just going through the same thing.
