The above chawan might be my favourite of the ones posted in this thread, it's absolutely fantastic! =)

After a loooooong search, I finally pulled the trigger on a chawan! It may not be very "traditional," but it's unique, gorgeous, and reminds me of my days living in Santa Fe! And the price was extremely right too! Can't wait to get this sexy girl in the mail.

Much praise to Ericka O'Rourke at
Elm Studios on etsy!

Thanks! I'm psyched. I'm tempted to grab the green glass yunomi she currently has for sale too. She does great work.

She definitely does. I received the yunomi I ordered a while back (see a few pages prior in this thread) very quickly and it is beautiful. I actually haven't used it yet because I want to wait until I have a new exciting tea to put in it, haha! I'll take photos and show it off here soon enough.
Edit: I mean, see the "Show off your teaware" thread, not this one.

Today's "favorite." Finally the Shoji showcase at the Japanese Garden opened this weekend. Of course, they had many beautiful pieces of pottery there, a good number of them FAR out of my budget.

Last year there were some wonderful tea pieces by Reid Ozaki and Hank Murrow. I was hoping to see works from them displayed again. Unfortunately, Mr. Murrow did not have his lovely chaire in the show this year, but there were a few chawan and other pieces from Mr. Ozaki.
I picked up this chawan, with such an interesting glaze:

Wow, why does it seem like the Pacific Northwest gets all the cool tea-related stuff? Even the coolest thing that's closest to me, Chaikhana, is all the way in Santa Cruz! Good thing I have a friend in Portland/Seattle...I shall use this a reason to visit

Drinking tea from this bowl would surely blow my mind!!!
Cool bowl. It must be fun to shop for a matcha bowl in a situation where you can actually touch the bowl!!!
Have fun,

I think I know the ones to which you're referring. I like the glaze immensely, but the shape... just doesn't do it for me. Too big for yunomi, too small and deep for chawan.

Yeah, the Pacific northwest gets all the cool stuff.
There is nothing like this in the tri state area around these parts.
