Re: Teaware Loss (Viewer discretion is advised)
It's amazing how important things like a teapot can become to us on a personal level, I've felt like crying after seeing a piece of teaware break as well! We can get so attached to certain items!

Sorry to hear about your Zuni ...IPT wrote:I just broke one of my Zuni teapots. It bounced twice, then just shattered. I don't know if I have the heart to photograph it though. It's a great way to start the day.

Don't throw out the teaware. Send the teaware off for repair. Throw out the cat.Chip wrote:CAAAAAAAAATTTTTTT!!!!!!!
Hagi SO #1 Sea Cucumber Guinomi. The very first Hagi SO. There were only 10 in this run made. This is also the our first Hagi break. I think I turned whiter than a ghost, even though I knew it would happen sooner or later.
Anyway, cats 3 - Teaware 0 ... so to speak. This is the 3rd broken piece of teaware thanks to a cat.
I am considering a repair ... either in house and never use it again, or sending it out. Cash value is not that high, but it being the first Hagi SO, it has more sentimental value.
I keep telling myself it is only a cup, it is only a cup, it is only a cup ... has not worked yet.
You know that would look great with a gold repair. Might be expensive though.

Yeah, gold repair would look fantastic! I am having a hard time justifying it for such a new and relatively inexpensive piece.edkrueger wrote:Don't throw out the teaware. Send the teaware off for repair. Throw out the cat.

The only reason I would is because it was a Hagi SO #1, thus a bit personally special.

Fried Feline, this Saturday, at Chip's house -- while watching the cage fight and Monster Truck Haul.
Be there!

Oh wow, you had a worse morning than me by far. I'm so sorry about your zuni!IPT wrote:I just broke one of my Zuni teapots. It bounced twice, then just shattered. I don't know if I have the heart to photograph it though. It's a great way to start the day.

At little ahead of you? Though better than superglue... ...it can hold water, should be good up to 250° and is safe, though I don't see myself testing tea out in it. Might look around some more for the one bigger chip missing and go back over it, fill in some of the small holes near the rim. It's nice to be able to hold it at least.Chip wrote:Well, you did a thorough job Gargoyle! Bummer!
You can superglue it for display only.

My goodness, IPT! I probably would have cried!
I've been doing my best to keep my wares safe from Psycho Cat, but we're running out of space. As long as I keep them on low shelves, I think (,knock on wood,) we'll be okay.
Mine and my boyfriend's clumsiness is another concern that may be unpreventable, however. I've had a few close calls (banging spouts on counters and the refrigerator door, and dropping cups, for example), but, so far we've been lucky (knock on wood again).

It was a very dear friend. It brewed such incredible Gaoshan Wulong! I saw it happen in slow motion too. It literally did bounce twice and then just explode.

Oh ouch. I'm so sorry.IPT wrote:Here's my zhuni teapot.
I knocked the end off a spout yesterday. It was an inexpensive mass-produced pot, but I liked it.
