This chawan's hand-painted relief depicts an island and its auspicious symbols/treasures, or "Takarazukushi." The pine, crane and tortoise symbolize longevity. Notice the auspicious mallet, which grants the wielder three wishes when struck three times. It is commonly seen with Daikoku, the god of wealth and farmers.

I really like the landscapes on this--it's a very neat style, more modern and very different than the classical Japanese/Chinese landscapes you usually see ....

I just wanted to share how my TC SO snowdrifts hagi is settling in at the office....

But since it now is living at the office where I don't often have my camera, it will be a while before I can get photos that capture the delicacy of the pink clay showing through the glaze.

The cups and pots everyone has posted on here are quite unique and beautiful. I think I may have to start shopping .
Here are my two tea sets.
The first is a gift from my kids, which is not handmade, but I think it's absolutely gorgeous.
The second one is a gift from Malaysia. I don't know anything about it and am not sure if it can actually be used (any help?). It is not glazed, it kind of seems like it's made of clay (or just unfinished), so it appears it would be porous (haven't used it). I'm not sure what everything is - what is the stand for the pot, is it just a stand? Or is it for the round container? Not sure what the round container is for, is it for sugar or tea leaves or what? Also, as you can see on the inside of this container, the paint or whatever it's coated with, is chipped. So I'm thinking this set is beautiful to look at but not very practical for use. Can some of you experts on here help me out with this.

"pkp" maybe you should post a new topic and ask your questions. You might get better response.

We have several members living in Malaysia, maybe they can assist. But you could also get a lead test kit, though I doubt there will be a lead issue, but could be other issues.

Thanks Chip. I was afraid of the lead too, hmmm. As for posting again, I'm very new to this and find it a bit too scary and alot of work to try figure it all out, so if I get any replies here, that's okay. But thank you for the suggestions.

That first set is made by Eilong of taiwan. Very nice set. Quite big though. I think the pot is 600ml and the cups around 120-150ml

recently had a house renovation and dug up these gaiwan's...

i got these together with a friend... its supposed to be jing de zhen stuff, and i forgot around what year this was made... but as far as i can remember probably 70s to 90s? i really cant recall... perhaps the experts here wont mind giving comments...

Nice Gaiwan Odarwin, I'm clueless as to the year though. One of the first Jing De Zhen pieces I have seen that has used Green as its main color.
