Yes the only 10 bucks I spent at Kofudo... this month.tenuki wrote:olivierco wrote: With the 10$ I paid for this chakin zutsu, his vacations won't last long.![]()
So this is the only 10 bucks you spent at Kodufo??!? You have far more restraint than I. To be honest it's probably me sending him on the vacation.
Heaven only knows, but therefore I sniped the lid-less pair of them for $12 total on ebay...MarshalN wrote:Where are the other two lids?
I have seen Chaire lids for sale, so perhaps I will purchase a couple at some point. Else I could just ask one of the vendors I deal with where I can score a pair at a decent price

Hey all! This is my first post. I've been drinking, lurking, and learning for a while now and now it's time for some post action!
My aunt, Charity Davis Woodard, made these bowls. The first bowl she made probably 3 years ago and the second was made quite some time ago (~10 years ago). I've designated them as chawan.

Wow SF those are very nice bowls! The top 2 look like perhaps Shino ware? So they weren't intended as Chawan upon creation? Because they certainly look like Chawan!Smells_Familiar wrote:My aunt, Charity Davis Woodard, made these bowls. Very impressive.
They remind me of some of the Chawan from 2000 Cranes.
It's amazing how much Japanese glazes and firing processes have influenced pottery worldwide, I really had no idea until I got into Chawan...
BTW I too have an aunt who does pottery (she is a graphic designer by trade, but also multi-talented). I was surprised when I emailed her a bunch of pictures of the tea bowls I'd been admiring, and she said "Oh yes, I did a Raku firing just last month!"
The first looks similar to two Iga Wabi-Sabi chawan I picked up on Magokoroda last year.Smells_Familiar wrote:My aunt, Charity Davis Woodard, made these bowls. The first bowl she made probably 3 years ago and the second was made quite some time ago (~10 years ago). I've designated them as chawan.
The second is very much like one I've seen on Maiko Tea Shops website.
Very nice on both of them!
