Fred lists his cup volume as all the way to the rim (he states that in his listings.) And when he says its to the lip of the cup, he really means it. I find that practical capacity is usually between 1.5-2oz less than the full volume.

My little teapot

by mrgeekteatoo » May 1st, '09, 19:24

I've just purchased my first solid silver Kyusu last month .

It's a unique one , from the 1920's-40's ( I'm not sure about this yet ) .

It's motif is two dragons , in repousee , with one dragons' head/neck serving as the spout .

It also sports a 70mm ivory handle .

Awful darn fancy , but it makes a fine cuppa t .

I'd sure like to post a photo here , but the best I could do , right now , is to send an e-mail to those wishing to view it .

I'm new to the forum here .

I've enjoyed looking around the teachat forums .

Thanks to all the members !

Is this an ad to sell such pots?

I'm just a real person

by mrgeekteatoo » May 1st, '09, 20:01

In reply , to the previous post , I'm just a regular person .

I'm not phishing , marketing or otherwise being a jerk .

I simply posted my addition to the topic .

Besides , I have no idea where anyone could find a Kyusu like the one I've got .

Thanks for your concern , though .

Give me two weeks and a budget, and I'm pretty sure I can find a kyusu like the one you described.

Sorry to be rude, but there are lots of ad posts these days on Teachat, and one cannot be too careful, especially when solicitation of email address is involved.

The easiest way to post a pic is to use a photobucket account - upload a pic and it will give you the code to use on the forum. I would love to see it :)

No harm done , MarshalN .

I am a teacher ( amoung other things ), primarily in the realm of computers .

I understand fully what you're talking about .

Thanks for the tip about using photobucket , ABx .

I tend to stay off such sites @ my home computers , but I'll make an exception .

Rain

Thanks , geekgirl ...

I guess it beats standing outside of the 7-11 in the rain , dippin' a Liptons' bag in a styro cup ....

mrgeekteatoo - What a gorgeous kyusu! I'm not generally into dragons, but I love all the detail in that pot.

Looks to be pre WWII and indeed Japanese. How large is it's capacity? The workmanship is very good from what I can see in the photo. It's worth some bucks so take care of it.

The Russians and Japanese in their research on water think that silver is a very good vessel to drink water from. Something about having a positive effect on its structure. I wonder how tea reacts with it?
