Re: Wood Fired Ceramics by Bill Perrine (Split-Fire Pottery)
Hi everyone,
I am getting closer to my next firing at the end of the month. I have been making a lot of tea ware that you might be interested in looking at. I have been paying more attention to exact sizes and I think you'll like them. I've added a couple of pics of some of my latest ware. These are tea caddies and a shui fan for Aphy.

A few of my old style tea bowls "thrown off the hump". That's were we center a big mound of clay and make a piece from just the very top portion. Good for making small things that would be too small of a ball of clay to center by itself.

This is a very small kyusu that should hold about 5 oz, good for gyokuro.

This one should hold about 9 oz.

Can't wait to fire!!
Cheers,
Bill

Hi Victoria and Geeber1,
I am planning on a lot of pieces being in that turquoise! It has been very popular, not to mention just a beautiful glaze. Thanks for the comments.
If you want to see the building part of the tea pot, check out my blog... It's http://splitfirepottery.blogspot.com/20 ... r-tea.html
Cheers, Bill

Nice looking kyusu Bill, I love the shape of that little one. And look at all of the handles in the background!
Nice variety of yunomi as well, looks like some of the square/round ones hiding in there (I love mine), and the ones in the foreground with the flared bottom are classy. Looking forward to seeing them all dressed up!

Very nice! Look forward to seeing the final results. Now if one of those kyusu end up being turquoise I may not be able to pass it up to match my yunomi! (sorry this photo does not really show it off well). This is one of my favorite cups!

Hi laura99,
If I remember correctly, the turquoise on it was close to the turquoise in your avitar? I plan on a lot of turquoise. A lot...

Not quite as blue as my avitar, but here is your photo from etsy - shows the color much better.

Re: Wood Fired Ceramics by Bill Perrine (Split-Fire Pottery)
Hi everyone,
I want to share a few quick pics of some of the teaware I have been creating lately. This first one is one of the shelves in my bisque firing that shows 2/3 of these are teabowls, and there is several more shelves of teaware !!

In this pic, I added a soda can for scale. These tea pots are going to shrink almost 15% and end up about 5/6 oz. up to 10oz. after they are wood fired. Are those spouts too long on those couple of tea pots? I am going to be adding a vine handle to the ones with lugs.

... and with a couple of bisqued ones to show Mr. Chip the difference in color. The bisqued ones are like really, really hard chalk, still absorbent so as to soak up glaze. The greenware ones are very breakable at this point... they are in between leather hard and bone dry. I assemble the parts when they are leather hard.
.
Now I have some serious glazing to do. I'll be back...

The spouts on those two may be a bit long, but I'm sure the handles will help balance the look. Can't wait to see!

Re: Wood Fired Ceramics by Bill Perrine (Split-Fire Pottery)
update...
I have been making grape vine handles from vines on the edge of the woods.
There are three for starters.

A close up of a handle that's drying, on bigger, one smaller

I can't wait to glaze them... Also a hand built tea bowl set or for sake...
... I can see these in turquoise and orange.
I'll keep you posted,
Cheers,
Bill
