Shanlinxi A and B from Origin Tea (Silentchaos). Yummy stuff, nice and thick. I liked B better than A. It had nice umami-sencha-like qualities at the opening and lovely pineapple.

Funny, but I preferred the A. However, the long feng xia is still king of shan lin xi, IMO.

Enjoying a truly wonderful Wuyi Rou Gui (Premium) from Die Kunst Des Tees - unfortunately the last bit of a sample. The flavour is already wonderful but the aftertaste is the real attraction: long and rich and lasting. I will have to loosen the purse strings, methinks...

Medium roast TGY from Mountain Tea. It's the first infusion, and this time I got it more right than ever before--sweet, a little floral, but more caramel and hay meadow in deep summer, and also a little edge from the roasting, an extra depth and contrast to the rich sweetness that is earthy, roasted, a touch bitter, adding depth like burnt sugar in a fancy caramel. Mmmm. Nailed this one.

Your light roasted Lishan is very good. None of the roast interferes with the taste and aroma of this very lovely tea. Nice tea to compare with the green Lishan.

I'm doing a little cross-cultural brewing today

This is a Shi Zuo from Tea from Taiwan in a chawan I got from O-Cha. Tastes great this way, and the bowl is quite full of leaves now that they have completely opened up.

The Da Yu Ling from Origin Tea is succulent. No one should miss this tea!

#17 Thai oolong. The tea from this package offers a very simple taste w/o any vegetal flavor that the green color promises. OK for twice a week, & 200 gr. for < $9. (What one will get at the Sunday night, old-town Chiangmai street fair is not exactly predictable) As others have wisely said, it is not something to have sent to one's home.

Package says "Aged Cliff Shui Xian from Buddha County 1993" from Five Star Tea.

Second time with this tea - first was sharing it with Shiuwen from Floating Leaves Tea. She was brewing last time and I have to say that although she is far more experienced, knowledgable and skilled than me, I like what I'm getting from it today better. She always ends up brewing yencha a bit too light for my taste.

It's always enlightening to share tea with friends!

Tea Master Tenuki!

70s baozhong I found pawing through a box that had been in storage a few years.

I'm taking a break this weekend and spending some time alone drinking tea at the wonderful Cama Beach Cabins.



70s style to go with the 70s tea. Que the PFunk and fire up the Pinto!



This tea is suprisingly long lasting. You can still see a little of the original green and despite being roasted and 40 years old the leaves are still supple.

first few infusions were thick and rich, with mild herbal, strong mineral and some subtle dancing chinese medicine notes. Aftertaste is mild but mouth watering. I feel very settled and grounded.

Around 4th infusion there was a sudden proliferation of bubbles and some new hints of maybe original baozhong? Very strange.

5 infusion on is just a nice swing jazz dance with an smiling old lady. The burnt plum and coppery mineral have taken over with a faint pleasant stale note. The mouthfeel has thinned out a bit. We'll see how long this old lady can dance. I've got all afternoon.
