Adding to that,

CR period, the moulds were limited, but after the CR, preparing for HK market and discovering of #4 mine. Lots of moulds appeared like above.

During the CR and before, Factory-1 used mainly two types of clays. Qing Shui Ni and Hong Ni. After the CR, lots of mixed (Pin Pei) clays appeared....one of reasons was to enhance the plasticity. Another reason was to appeal to HK market. Lots of clays with various colors appeared.

After the days of '82 stuff', coming to mid-80s, Factory-1's system changed. Preparing for Taiwan market and quantity boosted. So they started to add chemical ingrediants into most of clay. During that period, you won't find Qing Shui Ni types...very seldomly.


The same moulds had been used since then (late-70s~97) but the clays were different, level of craftsmanship also different. The very moulds are being used even to this day.

The book was published in Taiwan in 80s, 400rmb...not so hard to find..

It's been a must-have book for F1 collectors for years though

not difficult for the chinese to find (chinese speaking that is)

its just that these materials dont make it to the west early

many pot makers in yixing have a copy.. so that... hehehehe..

Actually, it is very easy to find, the republished version at least. It was republished in 2010 and 2012. In fact, I have some coming in but with some lead time. I can spare a few copies if it it is not needed it right away.

i was at a "yixing" shop recently.. the owner said the same thing.. he needs lead time to get some copies coming in

Are the images all from 1965-1982 or only the first pot?

its quite a wide range, some of the items are qing, some are "min guo", but since min guo is such a generic word, even anything from taiwan now can be considered min guo...

I think they are Shantou. There is no Qing~ROC ones in that book's seal introduction.

It's 70s Factory-1 Xishi or Lixing Shui Ping teapot. The size about 80ml.

It's one of Factory-1's 5-style Shuiping set, inspired by Qing-ROC Zhuni.

The clay is classic Factory-1 old Hongni, perhaps the genuine

Indeed, I can easily see some coarse texture in the lid, but I had not realized the origin of!

I use it for Rougui, the guy's a killer for doing gong-fu

I have the book for some time and use it for reference when hunting for teapots. But please be careful as there are a lot of fakes out there now. The fakers also have the same book.

From experience, I can spot them easily in the past based on clay and also the way the pot is done but the recent ones I have seen is getting almost impossible to detect. Have to go to the extend or using 30X lupe to study the clay and they also fake to that microscopic level. The clay, the workmanship and the "smell" almost like real old piece

Also some new books also publish fake as real.

These japan export-items have seal at the bottom?

Tie Hua Xuan, Wu De Xing, Li Yong etc these studios during the ROC were to export to Japan and SE asia, but mostly for Japan.


Also, carving the Heart Sutra have been Japanese fashion done on teawares like Kyusu or Hohin...Yixing potters imitated those for Japanese market to export.
