Thanks GG!
Nope - no ps,
but, I did get a new chasen for Christmas!
Bigger and better methinks. (more tines)
I just discovered, however, that it does not fit on my chasen stand

.
Do they make bigger stands?

My first (second) Matcha experience. The first time I think I used to much water, and when adding the water a bunch of matcha bounced out the other side cause I poured to hastily. Plus I think I needed practice with my whisking technique. This second bowl turned out better, but not as picturesque as some of yours.

I think that still looks a bit on the thin side, Adam. I also saw your photo in TD, looks like more powder may be in order.

Thanks for sharing your matcha with us Adam!
Keep at it! (I agree with what Chip said).
Also - I got one of those glass chawan at Teavana thinking it'd be great for travel. However, I have a very hard time whisking in it. The matcha always sloshes out terribly

. Now I never use it. I think I could make it work, but I think only 1/4 full max in order to work.
GG - stunning photo - ZOMG!!!

Nic pics everyone!
Yeah I noticed some trouble with my new Teavana glass matcha bowl too. But then I usually make closer to 5oz. Love the bowl though.

Nothing works like a straight sided chawan. I do have a midsize Pyrex glass measuring cup with a flat bottom, that works well to mix then pour.
This glass matcha bowl works fine side it is straight sided:
I dunno Seeker, those usually fold in to a point. Was yours spread out like that from the beginning? All the stands I have seen are roughly the same size.

I'm wondering if some matcha's just don't froth as well, because I was really working this one to no avail, and I only got these bubbles because I practically went berserk at the end and I saw bubbles appearing so it went berserk until I couldn't any more.
Seeker, my Chasen did that too, the center tines all spread out like that.
But on the up side the ice split is a little small for whisking I think but its a great thing to drink matcha from!

Where is the Matcha from, Adam? Some Matcha just won't froth very well. How hot is your water (preheating?)?
Great matcha/related photos! Thanks everyone for sharing!
And interesting about the Chasen not fitting ... never thought of that tbh. Still, looking at a Chasen, it always amazes me how incredible they are, beautiful yet so functional and perhaps the ONE must have item for making matcha. It amazes me that they are hand made and don't cost much much more.

Chashaku is just as essential.

I guess I should have added an "IMHO"
Nah, any ole spoon will scoop matcha, not any ole whisk will approach what a Chasen does for Matcha. "IMHO"
I have a few Chashaku, yet usually use a special little scoop spoon that almost always scoops 2 grams.
But scoop how you like, and like how you scoop ...
