That picture is probably one of the most well known ukiyoe prints, by an artist named Sharaku Tōshūsai.lekke wrote:I've recently got a thank-you card with the exact picture as you have on that poster. Do you (or anyone else here) know more about that drawing?

Lovely stuff, Adam.
The only thing that needs some work is the cable situation
Have you ever shown the vase in more detail?

I have shown the vase in the past, but here is a picture I do have of it:

As for the chord, I am still trying to decide between having it there or not, as that part of my apartment does not get a lot of light the solution I came up with was to use that lamp as a spot light on the wall.

Thanks for the picture, Adam. It's a beautiful vase! Kashun?
I'm trying to find a nice and small Hagi vase for myself at the moment. I love what they add to the atmosphere.
Regarding the cord situation. Maybe a white plastic cable duct (correct word?) to lead the cable straight down to the floor and then to the lamp would look better. It would be quite hidden that way. Or a white extension cord.
You can't remove the lamp, your beautiful collection needs to be seen!

I have not seen one of these vases for sale for awhile, but in terms of Hagi Vases it was quite a deal. Its a no name hagi artist that occasionally has versions sold on ebay.Stentor wrote:Thanks for the picture, Adam. It's a beautiful vase! Kashun?

Here are a couple of shots of my new tea set purchased from Scott at Chinese Tea Culture. So far I've been breaking them in with his Xishan green tea, it brews up perfectly in this little vessel! The gaiwan is much wider than my other one, which lets the leaves unfurl easily and also dissipates the heat quickly. Enjoy the pics

I have one cup like this (gift from DTH) and is beautiful, I hope you enjoy them!!!
Re: NEWEST CHAPTER! Show Off Your Pots and Cups XVI
Another houhin set. The houhin holds about 180-200ml.

Re: NEWEST CHAPTER! Show Off Your Pots and Cups XVI
Hooray for houhins!
And hooray for large clay jars!
Many thanks to ChinesePottery for his efforts in sending these pots...

Very awesome! The biggest one is about 45cm tall, and medium one is around 35cm tall. The smallest one is a double-walled jar, and is just really cool...
What would I want with such things?
Well....

This medium one holds about 50 tuos (Dayi)...
And finally:

A bunch of Xia Guan for the double-walled jar.
Hooray for tea!
And IPT has another one earmarked for me... oh yes, lots of tea to be stored, indeed!

nice jars! how about odors and everything? how did you "process" those jars to be ready for tea storage?
Re: NEWEST CHAPTER! Show Off Your Pots and Cups XVI
Thanks, odarwin!
They definitely did have a bit of a funky odor to them. The double-walled one especially had a very stable-earthy smell.
I washed out the two smaller ones and scrubbed them w/ a sponge (no soap). And then I aired them out with a floor fan... oh, probably 36 hours total (rotating the three). I could smell absolutely nothing after about a day, but I kept it going to be sure (and I tested my nose on other odors to make sure I wasn't stopped up
).
The larger ones appear to be pretty porous. It's harder to tell about the double-walled one, so we'll see.
Now my big dilemma is whether to risk storing them outside on the deck...!
On the other option, I don't turn on my AC during the summer until I get home, so they'd still get some good heat/humidity exposure inside.
