Wrong thread scruff, this is 'I want' not 'show off'.

I'm not getting these, but I want to...
*Sigh* it's just that, so often, these "i want" posts turn into "i will have."

It's breathtaking.
I'd love one like that. Seigan's work is awesome

Honjo Chawan by Ema Hiroshi.
Tenuki, this one made me think of us: "Ema Hiroshi was born in Tokyo in 1953. He entered the world of ceramics in 1990 after having left behind his life as a white collar (sic). In 1992, he graduated from the Bizen ceramic center and in 1994 founded his first kiln."

If you ever have a chance to handle these cups and bowls, you may find that your impression of them will undergo a shift. They have a tactile quality that is unique, a kind of honest hobbity earthiness.* And the natural colour of the clay can also have its own appeal, although photos don't always capture that.
Personally, I didn't care much for the unglazed/rough/Bizen-y pieces until I had the opportunity to, er, grope them in person. They really can grow on you!
*Bet that's the first time hobbits have been connected with tea ceremony. But not the last! Middle Earth rulez!
