Tokoname Yuyaku Co - I wrote to them as Tenuki suggested and they found it for me for less, including shipping, than the first place I saw it. Thanks Tenuki!Wesli wrote:Nice score, Vic. Where from?

My baby has arrived! It's a bit darker than I expected (uh, no mailman jokes, okay?), but I still love it.

I have been avoiding this topic not because I don't like teaware...but I just want almost everything I see. I get the major wants!!!
blah blah blah SENCHA blah blah blah!!!
I've been avoiding this thread for a few weeks, so I wouldn't be so tempted, but I gotta say that Scruff's new chawan is awesome. That blue next to the green tea must look great. Pictures with tea, please?
So are S_F's two...all the better because of the family origin.
And Victoria's kyuusu is exquisite. The design is so precise and restrained.
The dangers of looking...I want more teaware than I could possibly need.

I recently purchased a set of 5 aohagi chawan by Noutomi Susumu, who is quite good at getting the dark blue outside and a much softer, lighter blue inside the cups. I was quite surprised at how much this enhanced the color of tea that was already a very pleasant, deep green. I don't have a camera so I can't supply a pic, but it was pretty amazing.witches brew wrote:I've been avoiding this thread for a few weeks, so I wouldn't be so tempted, but I gotta say that Scruff's new chawan is awesome. I read somewhere (Book of Tea maybe?) that the Chinese had determined that blue was the best color for a chawan to visually enhance green tea (leaf, not ground or powdered).
Noutomi Susumu also uses aohagi to great affect in some of his guinomi and matcha chawan. His teaware, however, is not as reasonably priced as Yamane Seigan's.

As I mentioned, I have been forcing myself not to look here...I see I must in the future in order to protect my self perceived reputation.
