Snap a dap dap, they have an

I really like those as well.. heh, maybe that's why they don't have them for sale
The place looks somewhat nice, but a bit expensive. I can forgive some of the prices for being for 100g, but many of them are just too much.

Well, considering their featured product on their homepage is "Picks of the Summer, Just in time for Summer," I would not expect much from their online shop anyway.
I bet they have a nice shop. The prices on some products is twice what I see elsewhere, inexplicably. They do have some really nice teaware, the chawans are especially nice. I would love to walk into a shop carrying such wares without knowing, jaw drop reaction ...

I am hoping the manufacturer offers some new styles in the new year. The painting is really pretty unique. The gold is classy and the cranes are raised, giving it 3D effect.

I was looking at their canisters as well, Olivier, some of which are more than twice what other vendors sell them for. I don't know about the copper ones though.

I don't care anyway, I decided to save some money for these.

Shuuuweeet. Any particular update on the order of preference? I like C-4/9, dragonflies are always appealing to me. The two on the left are very "masculine" and I like pretty equally.

I don't like too much C-5. So I need only 200,000 Y, perhaps a little less.

Oh nice!! I really like c-4, but now I need to stop after already ordering those cranes and a few others I found while looking around.

olivierco wrote:chamekke wrote:Interesting and pretty, Olivier! What did the eBay listing describe them as? (meaning, what is their intended/original use?)
Japanese vintage silver set 3 trays gin with box.
ITEM DESCRIPTION: JAPANESE VINTAGE SIVER SET OF THREE TRAYS WITH SIGNED BOX. WRITTEN ON THE ORIGINAL BOX IS THE KANJI "GIN" WHICH MEANS SILVER.
AGE:EARLY SHOWA C1930
No indication for their intended use.
If I have a chance, I'll ask one of my Japanese-speaking (and -reading!) friends if they can translate the text on the box and/or hazard a guess as to the trays' use.
They look a bit like
meimeizara - small individual serving plates that are used for serving sweets in tea ceremony. However, it's odd that there are only three; there are typically five (at least in all the sets I've seen), and this box was definitely made to hold only three trays.

I kinda like c-1, but I like the simplicity of the kaikado tins. The copper one from rishi and the one that chip linked are also definitely on my list as well though. I'm just having problems justifying the high price tag of those. I could get like 3 of the Lupicia stainless ones for that price, or a huge pile of the regular washi tins.
