Teaware Loss (Viewer discretion is advised)

I have broken the two lids of my glass mugs and the lid of one my gaiwan, and only have 2....

Not very expensive loss but I´m very pissed

Really one broken last week, another this weekend and the last one today yes, very frustating, and more because when I broken the first I said myserl I have to be more carerul... but broken in the same way.

1 gaiwan lid went today, - reaching over the gaiwan to retrieve something behind it and it flipped straight out of the cupboard and onto the floor?

Moral - If I had bought less teaware I could store it one deep instead of 3 deep

But when you tripped, dropped, and broke the lid of your one gaiwan, that sat in lonely glory on a shelf of its own in the kitchen, what would you make tea with until your replacement arrived on the slow boat from China/Korea/Japan/France/Chicago?

I experienced my first (and I'm praying last) teaware loss last night while on TeaChat.

I had a small tray with my matsukawa tokoname kyusu and a fair cup balanced on my desk next to my laptop. The cat decided she'd like to jump up and join me, and stepped on the tray, tipping it.

I reacted instantly. I tried to save this kyusu



and this fair cup

at the same time.

I ended up knocking them together and the kyusu's handle snapped off.

There was a moment where the cat almost found out what life is like on the streets, but after about 30 minutes of screaming, swearing, crying, and her hiding under the bed, we were able to make up. We even had a nice apologetic cuddle before bed.

I don't think I'll get it repaired. The vendor I bought it from still has this design... I may simply buy a replacement or invest in a different, but similar sized and similar colored pot. It was my go-to oolong pot, and it was 240ml, the perfect size for me to share with my boyfriend or use alone after a long day at work.

Yeah you've got a one-er now....its like conkers....with yixing. You should start challeging people

Well, I have some good news for this otherwise depressing thread. I got my lid back and it has been repaired beautifully. The artisan who did it took over 5 months, but the quality of the repair is spectacular. I chose a matt silver repair. I did not really wish to hide the break, but celebrate its repair. The repair was so perfectly done that It feels like the lid was never broken at all.

Thank you debunix and David R. I thought the silver would offset it nicely. It is a survivor and a dear friend. I was just so heartbroken when it was broken and I would cringe every time I saw the chip. Now I can use it with joy again.
