Well, sort of. I got them for free with my order. And looking at the wrapper I thought they were candies, like warheads. But then I oppened one and found it to be just normal tea but in a little disc. So tomorow I am going to brew one up gongfu using a yixing.

BTW, That 2008 CNNP cake is a steal at $9 for any one who likes strong stuff, (me).

The reading on that controller is the temperature. It is controlling at 65% Rh and seems to be working beautifully.

Lookin' awesome! How's it smell in there now? (:

Two questions -- what's the white material you have all the beengs wrapped in? Some kind of cheesecloth or muslin?

Second, how'd you decide what to keep open or not? Looks like you've got something on the top completely 'open' -- is that to speed it up more, air it out, or...?

Meanwhile, *must stop drooling uncontrollably*

Drax,
Thanks for the comments. It is starting to smell pretty good now that the tea is taking on some humidity.
The white material is just tissue paper that my wife bought from the dollar store. I think it is 16" x 20" pieces. Works perfect for wrapping cakes.
The open piece in the top is just some stale Oolong that I put in there in the beginning to help put some tea smell in the cabinet.
I will keep everything wrapped.

You are very lucky my friend. That is a handsome looking pumidor you got there. I hope it all works out well for you. Time to get some tongs and fill that thing up, eh? :D

That's pretty amusing -- the stale oolong looks very regal in that box.

Hey, I just noticed. It's lockable...?? Is that to keep the kiddies out of the tea? :D

Either way, I think it's time I contacted that place about a pumidor. . . .!

I am drinking this now. Yes....it is quite aggressive. I little too much so for me.....though it is drinkable. I think I will like it more in 6 months or so. I agree it is a steal for $9.

I am a little confused as to whether this is an actual CNNP production or if this is another factory that simply paid to use the zhong cha brand.....or if this was created under the umbrella of CNNP. Any thoughts?

The CNNP used to control the factories that are now Menghai Dayi and Xiaguan (a few others as well) and directly marketing their outputs under the CNNP umbrella. These companies have gone private, but CNNP as a brand still exists. Their productions are commissioned to private factories just like collectors and Taiwanese aficionados might commission a production.

I believe that particular cake was a Kunming tea factory sourced CNNP release. Basically a Kunming tea factory cake in CNNP clothing.

Yes, thanks is correct.
As Puerhking said, it is very aggressive, but I think given a little time it should mellow and be pretty good. I think I am going to get 2 more for aging.

Wow, that is the clearest and best explanation I have found so far about the CNNP. Thanks.

Additionally, however, I believe I read somewhere that some NON-CNNP producers use CNNP generic wrappers rather than buy their own because it is cheaper. Or is that story actually more complicated?
