Re: Ode to the Kyusu
Looks really nice! Ippodo's pics on their website don't do it justice at all.
How's the lid fit?

Doesn't look like the same pot. At all. I wouldn't want the one in the photo, but the one you received is beautiful.Stentor wrote:Looks really nice! Ippodo's pics on their website don't do it justice at all.

Tim, I think that the surprising awesomeness of the Ippodo kyusu requires you to show us more action-photos of it!

I agree. On the website it does not look too wonderful, but your photograph really does. I am tempted to buy one myself. Any chance of a side view?

Re: Ode to the Kyusu
My first piece of japanese teaware, a tokoname kyusu. I got it in Kyoto. It's rather inexpensive. Slip cast, no maker's chop or mark anywhere on the pot. But it brews tea nicely
nice lid fit and pour. About 250mL give or take. Plugging the hole in the lid stops the flow as it should. On the outside is carved the famous phrase "ichigo ichie" (一期一會). I think I'll use it only for sencha.
