Oooh, I see everything I need between the bottom shelf and the top shelf ... just add water! What are the two tongs? Is that a whole stack of Holy Flame bricks? Way cool. Thanks for sharing.

Better yet, take a trip up here and drink some of it with me!

The two tongs are Menghai 7542(801) and Menghai's "Big Classic." The stack is actually Xiaguan Tibetan Baoyan from 2006.

definitely nice! I see some of those YS DeHong bricks in there too, if I'm not mistaken. I like those.
Sheng on the top shelf, shu on the bottom -- that's exactly how my setup looks too. :)

Is it good? If you have tried the Luxi, how do they compare?

I assume you mean the Luxi Wantong Tea Factory's 2005 De Hong "Golden Melon" 500 gr melon. There's no relation between the two as far as I can see. The melon smelled at first like a light shu and followed up with a light ginger ale taste, little body, aftertaste, or astringency ... minty and refreshing. I thought it would be good with food and brewed it a couple times Euro style at work and enjoyed the result. OK now and maybe it will age into something more exciting... dunno.

Or maybe you mean the Luxi Tea Factory 2006 Wild Tree Floral 250 gr brick which was also completely different: earthy, spicy, dark mushroom, loam, rotted manure, vanilla, not at all astringent. Good aftertaste, a hint of camphor, no viscosity or oiliness. Tastes older than two years and does an easy 9 infusions or more. Nice stuff in a lot of ways.

As for Scott's own production 2008 Wild Tree Raw Puerh Brick of Dehong, a purple leaf tea, I found it fruity and delightful, but not like any sheng I have had yet. Good, but different. It went 9 infusions in the one session I have had so far.

All three teas completely unlike each other and all nice in their own way.

I thought the YS brick was defiantly different, as Salsero stated. It reminded me more of an oolong than sheng. Fruity and floral with light flavor. Good brick but with my limited income for tea, I would not buy it.

I didn't want to create a new thread for this... so I figured I'd post here. Any info about what I bought is welcomed. Not sure how old it is... or how long it had been sitting on the shelf-- the box has probably seen better days :) but I picked this up at a local Hong Kong Supermarket for a couple dollars. I present to you... my grandiose collection of pu

That's exactly what it is. Does the packaging say which year it is from? 2006? If so, I really enjoyed drinking that one...even more now than when I first had it. Tasty little bugger!
