I wondered who was going to snarfle that beauty. Was very tempted to bid on it (I love shunkei-nuri), but am very glad that you got it. I'll bet that matcha looks particularly beautiful against that lovely clear-golden lacquer.olivierco wrote:

Some new cups for me, these are so beautiful. They are as thin and light as porcelain,
but they are made from red clay.


They are made by Gagyu; here is the description from Artistic Nippon:
"Using a 250 year old brush technique reintroduced by his father, the 13th generation traditional craftsman Yokoishi Gagyu has created this delightful yunomi. Slip is brushed across the red clay surface of the cup to produce a marbled effect, reminiscent of waves, long grass or even rice stalks swaying in the breeze. The cup has a lovely smooth finish and is very light to hold. "
