The mark on the bottom says "China, Yixing" -- the clay looks like it's from the 00s to me of medium quality, so it may be real clay, but not very sandy, or aged. (I'd love to know if others agree) Frankly it could be older, but the thick handle and rather plastic-like surface is making me think it's younger.

It'd be nice to have a photo with the lid on. The profile and proportions of a teapot are important. IMHO. For a modern teapot that is not expensive I think it matters more than the maker's mark.

Some modern pots are quite nice.

Here's the lid on. The clay doesn't strike me as sandy or grainy. You can see some silver-gold speckles, especially if you look at the bottom, but not much. If you look closely elsewhere, you will see some slightly raised, grainy particles, but again, not often. (Then again, I'm a totally untrained eye.)

1963 would be the oldest ball filter I've read about. I've read about some made in the 70s in Yixing for export to Japan.

Yes, I agree. Indeed, I do not take that date (1963) seriously as the manufacture date. It may mean something else, but I ignore it. I think that the shuiping was made much later than 1963. Maybe somebody knows what this may mean.

厂外壶较多。 your late 70s kyusu is nice though. 横把圆囤茶器. F1 probably. i would love to boil water in that

In fact, except for the broken shuiping, the kyusu was the cheapest of them all. I got it for 1000 TWD (after a little bit of bargaining) from a store in Taipei, whose location I will not disclose

It looks quite sturdy, so it may withstand heat quite well... But I think I will not try. Suddenly, it has become much more precious than I thought it was

its not always that "expensive" is good. that kyusu's probably one of the best item

1000 TWD is a steal, although it probably originally costed a few american dollars a couple of decades ago.

nice! but prefer a flatter bottom there's another design that i've been watching.

are you based in taiwan? that's a yixing heaven.. especially for F1 stuff.

But before, I used to be in Singapore.

Yes, Taiwan may be a Yixing paradise. But with my poor knowledge, it is hard to tell apart the F1s from the 80s/90s/00s private order/fakes.

Lately, I am focusing more on contemporary Yixing pots.
I found a vendor in Taichung who is careful enough to send to Taiwan S.G.S. his made-to-order Yixing pots to test for absence of heavy metals in the clay.

The pots are not particulary cheap and sometimes they are on the "large" side (>150 cc), but it gives one a lot of peace of mind when using them

That's a great price, no doubt. I just bought the model illustrated to the right of yours in the Factory 1 book. I, too, got lucky and paid a small price along with another Factory 1 Shuiping.
