I happend when I was cleaning out used leafs. A smal hit on the sink and I heard the terrible sound. I took a few seconds to localize the damage. Horror struck. But I think it could have gone worse. I think that glue can fix this pretty easy.

I finally broke down and bought a plastic 'sink liner' after cracking one pot too many on my sink. I did hear contact between pot and sink just yesterday, but I got lucky.

I have an oddly shaped sink and really need to cut a 2nd mat to fit the smaller side for best pot-protection, and this accident is going to inspire me to do it tonight. I know where I can find a properly-sized piece to cut down for it. Need to fix that and find a little rug for the tile floor in the tea-prep corner.

Loctite super attak, precision glue. Not dangerous when hardernd. Only used minimal amount of glue. Hope it holds.

Tip chips are common for me, unfortunately! The sound of when I have done it is unmistakable, sickening. I have done this usually during a split second of not paying full attention.

It is good to practice "safe pouring!"

If a pot comes with the nice molded silicone protector, I keep it on, but the cut plastic hosing ... I used to use, but not anymore.

My first loss: my 60mL ("small") gaiwan from The Tea Gallery. It's all my fault; I was insufficiently gentle...

That gaiwan might still be usable, I can not tell how badly the body is cracked, but the chip does not extend that far down the body. If you are fine filling it with slightly less water you can always pour with the Chip at the back of the pour. In this way you can get quite a bit more sessions out of it. I would be wary if it seems overly cracked, as I would worry about it potentially shattering if squeezed slightly too hard.

Just broke the lid of my favorite gaiwan (Tea Gallery's 60ml as well). Set it on a towel to dry, then forgot it was there.

Caught a yellow jacket flying inside the library with it, and let it loose outside, placed the cup on the edge of surface, jacket freaked me out flew at my face I tipped cup off edge

I had just received a new rug last night, that I bought to pad the area of kitchen tile where I usually sit as I prepare and drink my tea.

Today, I had not yet had any tea, but several pieces of Petr's teaware were in the dish drainer from yesterday's sencha. The cat leaped up to the counter, but her claws grabbed the end of the towel under the dishdrainer instead, pulled the whole thing down. One cup survived, because it landed on the new rug. But my shiboridashi and yuzamushi missed the rug and landed on the tiles.



I am so glad I took those 'family photos' of the whole group last weekend, while all were still whole....
