Re: Today's Matcha :D (new name, but tea's the same)
Thank you as always, Seeker, for sharing your matcha and chawan with us virtually every day. I really like the Cory Chawan ... a cousin of that one came down the chimney on Christmas.
And also thanks Amorphiss (I might have seen that chawan or similar, details?), Cory, and Sarah (I definitely saw that Seigan).

New Chawan from a resident Artisan Jason Fasi, with Ikuyo-no-mukashi matcha
Re: Today's Matcha :D (new name, but tea's the same)
Adam - nice! very nice indeed!
Hey - how do you like the Ikuyo? I've not tried it. Care to share any tasting notes (nutty? grassy? seaweedy? sweet? bitterness? astringency? etc)?
Alsoooo - nice froth/foam you got there.
I was away today at a workshop all day - no matcha
.
Tomorrow's another day tho!

Quote from my review of it, I realized I didn't post any reviews of it on here...
"Its aroma is like chocolate with a hint of mint. With hints of a nut like aroma, and something in this reminds me of the sea, so perhaps a slight seaweed like characteristic.
While it coats everything like a cream, delivering a very welcome flavor like you find in very dry wines, but also presents a bakers chocolate like flavor. The best part of this tea has to be its mouth feel though the flavor is good too."

Today - a new Cory Lum chawan! Yay!
Horai-no-mukashi in Cory Lum gasfired red:

(click if you'd like to enlarge)
I love this chawan. I love the luminescent, shimmering, 'spirit-light' shomen
(kind of like the universe or the milky way is peeking out at you
). Perhaps this vessel was a Knight of Light's chawan, imbued with Merlin's magic.
Cheers.

The matcha from a Certain tea place that is so vain they probably think this post is about them (in which case they are right).
Is only good when its not made as strong as I like my ippodo matcha's to be made. But as I slowed down in its consumption quite a bit I thought I would hurry it along and make a large batch.

Gorgeous Adam!!! That chawan and that matcha just look fabulous!
makes me thristeeeeeeeee...
but it's too late for matcha now at 7pm for me.
My apologies to each and every one of you in advance - but I am taking my final licensing exam in two weeks, so, I probably will not be posting nearly as much, if at all.
This is the final push for me - lots of studying and prep to do. (anxiously sweating, teeth chattering, biting of nails
)
Hopefully I'll have time to peak in and see what's happening, perhaps make a comment, but almost for sure no time for photos
.
Soooo... once again I vigorously invite you to share your matcha, and your chawan -- your own personal, special chanoyu. I hope many of you can post/share while I'm occupied with my exam. It'd be very heartening to peek in and see some inspiring chanoyu as I'm toiling...
So, unless I get some miraculous breaks - I'll see you again in two weeks, after Jan 26th!
(my exam is on Jan 26th @ 1pm-3pm - so I'll take any good thoughts, prayers, incense burnings, candle lightings, etc
I want to pass this thing!!!).
Cheers.

Best of luck to you, master Seeker. You will be in our TeaThoughts, especially the ones that are matcha induced.

Okay, so I took a photo break today

"Gingko Leaves Falling on Moonless Night" chawan by Cory Lum, Den's organic matcha.
Fist, I must warm the chawan:

Then, I must sift my chosen matcha:

Finally, I am rewarded with the emerald elixir

Well, ahem, taking and posting photos yesterday boosted my mood, which seemed to augment my studying! Sooo...

Good day to you!
Test anxiety abounds on my end, so I breathe, take some time for tea, and persevere. May you persevere as well with whatever you are facing.
Today, Cory Lum's "Arm of Biidoro" chawan (other side, opposite the shomen side), and a delicious batch of Horai-no-mukashi from Ippodo (one of my favorite matchas).

May we meet our anxiety with breath, and patience, and still more conscious breath. And may we all find some goodness in this day, no matter how small.
Cheers.
