We'll be here all the way. It's ok.Victoria's Own wrote:Wow, ok thanks Pentox. Oolongs are so forgiving.
This is a whole new world for me.
I'm going to need a lot of help along the way!
I used to do the same thing, Chip, strainer from a tetsubin. Except I have a natsume so I would sift into that while I preheated the bowl. I used the chashaku to push it through the strainer.Chip wrote:Wow...that is BIG!!
I am improvising, I use a sample tin from Upton and a Tetsubin metal infuser basket fits into it perfectly. But since I sift dose by dose, I usually sift right into the preheated and dried matcha bowl. Not sure if that is the "right way" or not.

yeah I love my black chawan. It's unfortunately smaller than most which causes it to not get as much attention as it should. It's a beautiful bowl though. But that also reminds me that I should post the two teacups that will never see a drop of tea in them. Both of these are antique teacups given to me by my uncle. Note that the one on the left has gold laquer repair work on it.Victoria's Own wrote:Pentox, very nice! Is that a black matcha bowl?? Been looking at one of those. I also like the celedon whisk holder. After much deliberation I choose a wooden one, not sure why.

Nope, that's where I got it. I've been a Waits fan for years and I finally had the pleasure of seeing him live in '06...twice in one week! Good to see there are other Waits fans here.evilive wrote:Got some new stuff recently! WIll have to take some photos finally. Also Buzz Fledderjohn, I absolutely adore Tom Waits; the man is a total genius...if you got your name form elsewhere...ignore me
