Actually, once you know what you're doing you can get pretty decent results from commercial grade Dancong. It just takes some experience.Tead Off wrote:Low quality dancong is terrible. High quality dancong is great.

Very true, especially for the poor students/recent graduates of TeaChat...I try to do both, but I think I tend towards better leaf (although my subconscious mind tends toward better teaware)entropyembrace wrote:On my budget it often is good leaves or good teaware not both!

Then, good teas are more important.entropyembrace wrote:On my budget it often is good leaves or good teaware not both!
Re: Imen for the Win!
Once you taste great dancong or any tea, you don't want commercial grade anymore, unless, of course, you can't afford it, which is another matter altogether. Decent and Very good are 2 very different things I think. But, we all have our own agendas, taste buds, etc.ABx wrote:Actually, once you know what you're doing you can get pretty decent results from commercial grade Dancong. While I will agree to disagree on your thoughts on teaware, I do agree that real Dan Cong is something special. I still enjoy lower grades, but the good stuff....wow!!!Tead Off wrote:Once you taste great dancong or any tea, you don't want commercial grade anymore, unless, of course, you can't afford it, which is another matter altogether. Second argument. i.e Great tea + Great TEA BREWER = the best cup you can make.Tead Off wrote: Great tea + great teaware=the best cup you can make.
Disclaimer: I in no way profess to be the greatest tea brewer.

Okay, let's change it because it's important that you agree with me.Zanaspus wrote:Second argument. i.e Great tea + Great TEA BREWER = the best cup you can make.Tead Off wrote: Great tea + great teaware=the best cup you can make.

Great tea + Great Teaware + Great Tea Brewer= the best cup you can make.
Do we agree to agree?

I love my own stumblings along my tea path.Tead Off wrote:

I cherish the advice and counter advice received from Tea Chatters.
I am jealous of those who have access to really good brewers, such as Imen and the like.
I am really envious of those members who have access to Tea Masters in Taiwan and China.
Re: Imen for the Win!
Grasshoppa. Focus. A tea master is not master of all teas. Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to drink one tea in one pot for one year. If you are not a master of that tea after this, coffee is for you.Herb_Master wrote:I love my own stumblings along my tea path.Tead Off wrote:

Re: Imen for the Win!
Thanks to the internet we have access to a lot more teas than 20 years before, so we have nothing to complain for, there are a dozen of good teashops online, and these forums are great places to exchange experience and to recieve and give some advice, even if you would live in china for example you wouldn`t have easier time in finding good tea, if you want to look for the best tea you still need to travel to the location where it is produced and buy from the local farmer, or visit tea competitions and buy exclusive tea for a small fortune, but still there are vendors online who sell teas from local farmers, like jingteashop, hojo, houde, teahabitat, sevencups, teaspring etc... .

I agree, especially because the vendors online (the honest ones of course) have taken the time to filter all the fake or really crappy tea that's out there. Buying tea in China was fun, but a pretty stressful experience. There are malls dedicated to tea, and to find a good tea out of any of these shops can take hours. I spent 4 hours in one shop picking out a TGY.Oni wrote:Thanks to the internet we have access to a lot more teas than 20 years before, so we have nothing to complain for, there are a dozen of good teashops online, and these forums are great places to exchange experience and to recieve and give some advice, even if you would live in china for example you wouldn`t have easier time in finding good tea, if you want to look for the best tea you still need to travel to the location where it is produced and buy from the local farmer, or visit tea competitions and buy exclusive tea for a small fortune, but still there are vendors online who sell teas from local farmers, like jingteashop, hojo, houde, teahabitat, sevencups, teaspring etc... .

One thing commercial grade dancong is great for is cold brew iced tea.ABx wrote:Actually, once you know what you're doing you can get pretty decent results from commercial grade Dancong. It just takes some experience.Tead Off wrote:Low quality dancong is terrible. High quality dancong is great.
