We have one dog and two rabbits, but they don't live inside, except when there is either extremely hot or extremely cold (in the dog's case) weather.
Japanese Black this morning, a very much appreciated tea gift.

Enjoying some of The Tea Gallery's 100 Year Tree...probably one of the best Wuyi I've tasted. I think I'm experiencing my first real tea-high. It's as if all my troubles are being washed away by a calming wave......ahhhhhhhh

Re: Tuesday TeaDay 8/18/09 TeaTime pet invasions?
Catz, catz and more catz are a staple at our TeaTable! Sometimes they are just more 'there' than other times.
Wulong has her own stool to sit upon while she watches Chip intently as he brews ... that is while she is not begging to perch shoulder top to peruse the preparation.
Pyrit is mostly there for the hugs and treats while the others including Precious and Gandalf, just run around doing cat burnouts while waiting impatiently for either food, or hugs or both!
Our newest little one, Fuji mostly entertains us with his 'feats of wonder' while waiting for his first drink of the day.
Currently in my cup, Yunan Noir and up next a tea as of yet unknown to me, waiting for the call.
Have a TEArrific TeaDay everyone.

It it not a common occurence for either of my cats to interrupt a tea drinking session at my place. That doesn't mean it doesn't occur at all though.
Every once in a while JP likes to slurp up some of the good stuff. Usually nice light Chinese greens, or particularly fresh Japanese greens.
Footsie (named for her affinity for bare feet) doesn't seem to care for the elixer of life much. As you can guess... she's much happier rubbing up against your toes.
In my cup this day: Egyptian Mint from Zhena's Gypsy Tea.

When she's not sleeping, my cat likes to hover around me no matter what I'm doing. She mostly stays off the counters and table, though, and has never gotten into my tea. Cheese is another story.
I've been drinking lots of iced mugicha over the past few days, as we're having a rather un-lovely heatwave.

... great TD continues with 88 Nights from Sugimoto USA.
Despite the heatwave, for some reason, I still have not had anything iced. Perhaps I will do some cold brewing ...

I'd consider myself rather invaded.
None of my cats has ever taken any interest in my brewing or the tea itself, but they do hop onto the table between me and the keyboard...and that's where my cups, trays and other tea things are
Not that I mind much, though. =)
Royal Blend on the balcony this morning. Genmaicha with my dinner.

My wife and I both had cats who lived to 22 and 23 years of age. One was a chocolate-point Siamese and the other was a Persian. I doubt that my wife's Persian would have invaded my tea space but my Siamese would have for sure! She would have strutted through any space that occupied my attention
We needed a little break from the responsibility of caring for pets, but there is probably a Himalayan in our future.
My son is back from school so *I* have had a great tea day, which I shared with him and his friends. We started with Jing's Shui Xian, followed by Uji Miyabe, Takumi shincha, Kanro gyokuro, Sugimoto genmaicha, Teaspring's Tai Ping Hou Kui, Sugimoto sencha, and Hou de's Jing Zhu dancong, and the night is still young.
Today was my first taste of Tai Ping Hou Kui. The first brew was with 6grams in 6 ounces of water at 160F for 60 seconds, and it went for six infusions. It was delicate and rich. It had the most interesting spicy scent that reminded me of fresh-baked gingerbread. After the third infusion some traditional green bean flavors started to emerge.
I hope you are all having great Tea Days too.

Re: Tuesday TeaDay 8/18/09 TeaTime pet invasions?
Hi All,
Oh, yes...one of our two cats (the bigger one) always tends to be between me and whatever I'm trying to do. Reading the paper is quite a challenge with him around. The other cat shows up for conversation sometimes.
One afternoon last week, I took a bowl of matcha outside when I took the dogs out. I grabbed a chair and sat down in the shade of our maple tree. When I got to the last sips at the bottom of the bowl, I asked the little dog (Havanese) if he wanted a sip. He enthusiastically bounded over, stuck his head in the bowl, sniffed and decided "I don't think so". I turned to call the big dog (Golden) and asked if he wanted a sip. They are used to getting the last few drops from DH's cereal bowl pretty often. Big dog bounds over sticks his nose in the bowl and also decided he really didn't want any matcha. But the little dog thought the the big one had a taste, so he immediatly decided he had to have some too. He took a lick and "chuffed" (dog people know this sound)...he did NOT like it!!! Of course, on telling this story to my family, they said "oh, see even the dogs won't drink that stuff"
So I have not had good success getting the pets to share tea, but they are good company when I'm having tea!
Joy to all,

Re: Tuesday TeaDay 8/18/09 TeaTime pet invasions?
My cat is fond of jumping on my lap when I am sitting down enjoying a cup of tea. This is usually fine unless she tires of my paying too much attention to my tea. When this happens she will sometimes, in an unpredictable way, suddenly rub the bottom of the tea mug with her chin as I am taking a sip, thus spilling hot tea on my face and chest. I guess this qualifies as a pet invasion.
