I'll grant everyone that is is rather odd looking, but most people seem to be in the same line of thinking that I am. It is certainly Unique, but its complete rusticness has a charm to it that lures you in and hooks you.
If I had 600 dollars to spend on a piece of teaware, this might be it, or you know a really really nice Tetsubin.

Good eye, Adam. That is one REALLY nice kyusu.
I'm also guessing that is from near or in the firebox on an anagama or noborigama (less likely). Looks like what is called hai kaburi (ash burrying) and koge (3-dimensional stuff that resembles Post grape-nuts fused onto the surface).
Love that pot. Form and surface coming together. Blessed by the fire.
best,

I just wanna pot or gaiwan small enough for gongfu with cups to match...
I just use a smallish glass pot for everything and use a lot of leaf...makes for kind of a hybrid brewing technique that´s in between gongfu and english style...
but since this is the drool thread I´ll add some pictures of what I have in mind for when I finally have a teaware budget...
(the tea leaves get funding priority)
I´ve fallen in love with this little gaiwan...the rose design is so simple and beautiful. It´s only 90ml so I´m sure to be able to drink many infusions in a row.

And these little fishy cups would be so wonderful for sharing tea with my gf...they´re really photogenic too!

but I´m often drinking tea alone since my gf lives in Mexico...so a cute little celadon cup like this would be perfect for enjoying tea on my own

I've been dreaming of owning this Shipiao for probably close to 15 years. It's in the Shanghai Museum, so of course that'll never happen, but this is the wish/drool thread, so there you have it.

How old is that lovely pot?
And very worthy of some wishes (or drool!).

Nice entropyembrace, I love that celadon cup, I have looked at that one myself for awhile now. Maybe a little splurge is in order for your TC anniversary.
Such enablers we are!!

Re: I Wanna.... ( the wish/drool thread )
Actually, I have a funny story about that. In China sarcasm doesn't really exist, so whenever I use it, it confuses people. So everytime I go to a museum I ask the guard if I can purchase certain items. I do it with a straight face and they freak out thinking I"m serious. So I did actually ask to buy that teapot.JBaymore wrote:Cue theme from "Mission Impossible".IPT wrote: It's in the Shanghai Museum, so of course that'll never happen,..........
