Put in a pre-order for this, my only shincha order since I've got other teas clamoring for my attentionDresden wrote:All this talk of YM vs SM has me curious if anyone has tried the Yuuki Yutaka (blend of SM and YM) from Yuuki-Cha.
I missed out on it last year and would like to hear what people thought.

About time Iannon!
Shincha News Flash courtesy of O-Cha.
I just read a report from Kevin over at O-Cha regarding the cold snap that may have damaged some crops. It is a good news/bad news scenario.
Shizuoka appears to be hit pretty hard with some counties reporting frozen buds and requests for finacial assistance. Shincha will be delayed from this area!!!
Kagoshima appears to be fine and should see some releases in 2 weeks.
Uji, yet to be determined ... which could be good news at least to a degree.

OK, first shincha orders placed. First stop, O-Cha. Yutaka Midori and Sae Midori are in order #1. Then order #2 consists of Kirameki and Warashina Supreme.

Re: 2010 Official Shincha ordering topic
This is the good news I was hoping for from Yuuki-Cha:
I'm very happy to read this because yuuki's lineup looks really great this year. Lots of good asamushi and some new fukamushi too!yuuki-cha.com wrote:WEATHER UPDATE: (6th April) There was a cold spell at the end of March in Japan, especially Shizuoka. Many non-organic Shizuoka tea gardens had severe damage. However, the high grown Shizuoka organics that we are selling were not damaged at all by the cold spell because the tea bushes in these elevated organic tea gardens were not even active at that point. All reports from our growers in Uji, Shizuoka, Kagoshima, and Kumamoto indicate that everything is fine at the moment, and the weather is now starting to warm up nicely! Any further updates will be announced here.

Re: 2010 Official Shincha ordering topic
This is the first year I've been interested enough in tea to order Shincha, exciting!
I've gone with the Yutaka Midori and Sae Midori from O-Cha (as it seems, has everyone else!).
I'm still finalising my order from Yuuki-Cha but I'm thinking maybe the Shizuoka Tenryu Misakubo and the Uji Gokujo Shincha, hopefully as interesting contrasts to the Kagoshima teas from O-Cha. I really loved the 09 Kumamoto Yabe Supreme in normal form, but I'm leaning toward trying some different ones.

Right, I did the same ...camw wrote:I've gone with the Yutaka Midori and Sae Midori from O-Cha (as it seems, has everyone else!).
I'm thinking along similar lines -- different regions, and going with lighter steaming than the O-Cha teas. I'm definitely going for the Tenryu Misakubo, now just trying to choose a second one. I'm thinking about the Shizuoka Kanayamidori; I don't know anything about this tea, but the description sounds interesting. Anybody have any comments or experience with this variety? Only thing that's keeping me from pulling the trigger is deciding between the Kanayamidori or the Yabe Supreme. Help me decide! (And "both" is not an option, I'm already starting to push the budget a bit)I'm still finalising my order from Yuuki-Cha but I'm thinking maybe the Shizuoka Tenryu Misakubo and the Uji Gokujo Shincha, hopefully as interesting contrasts to the Kagoshima teas from O-Cha. Hey everyone. What's a good sincha for someone who has never had sincha before? Any recommendations?
