These are my array of canisters, the I have two glass jars painted black in the lower right, and 4 of the large black canisters with metal lids for Chinese teas. The specialized ones are my Japanese canisters, of which I have the 5 pictured.

About the only tins I have are the ones that come with my Adagio teas. I like their convenience. However, tins don't work for my lapsang souchong. Even in a plastic bag, the scent came through so I put that bag in a zipper lock plastic bag but still the scent was permeating my tea area of the cupboard. I finally put the double plastic bag in one of those plastic disposable containers with the snap on lids that you see in this photo and that finally held in the smoky scent.
All of my small Adagio tins I keep in the boxes they came in. When I want to get to a specific tin (and I have 37 of them) it's easier to move a box containing four or six tins than one tin at a time.

Hey JB, do you keep your matcha exclusively in chaire? Curious how you use them.JBaymore wrote:Mainly natsume and chaire...

Thank you everyone for sharing your photos today!
And to prove I am partially Japanese, all my lids and bases line up. Well, I am not Japanese, but wonder if I should be at times. I love how virtually all their tins line up in painstaking fashion. And yeah, when I pour a Kyusu, the vent hole always points towards the spout tip.
I have to think that the Hagi is such an illogical choice for me, but I force myself to not be completely OCD ... constantly and w/o ceasing!
More lids lined up with their bases!

Chip, I imagine your house as one big tea/teaware/canister storage unit with maybe some furniture thrown in?
The only tea canisters I have right now are Adagio tins.
Today I used the last of my Keemun Rhapsody sample - time to order more!

LOL, yay Chip! Yeah, all of my tins/pots/anything with a contiguous design always line up. Even tins with seams, I always match the seams. I figure if that's the "worst" manifestation of OCD I have, I'm doing pretty good.

Furniture, what furniture? If I could, I would just have those big ole wood emptied tea crates!geeber1 wrote:Chip, I imagine your house as one big tea/teaware/canister storage unit with maybe some furniture thrown in?![]()

Matcha earlier with Mrs. Chip. Currently Korean Moo Dool from Hankook.

Nope, general storage is in sealed tins in the fridge. Too prescious and expensive to let it age prematurely. It gets sifted into the chaire (or natsume) when actually preparing tea.
For a few days it likely would not affect it too much. At least I can't tell

One more ... yeah ... obsessed a bit. These are Japanese and all in use.

I have canisters for tea and use them or save them for when I get more tea, but they do not match very well and there is definitely not a theme with them. I have one washi double lidded tin (currently holds gyokuro), one double lidded tin from Enjoying Tea (currently holds sencha) and a bunch of left over Adagio tins that hold everything else. I have so many left over Adagio tins that they not only hold tea, but spices too. Other teas are in the resealable bags that they arrived in.
Currently, I am enjoying some hojicha.

Go to TEA PARAPHERNALIA on the left side, when the page comes up - choose SEE THEM ALL. They have so many gorgeous colors!!!!
