Today no revelations, aside from the realization that my new 2009 Winter wood-roasted Shui Xian oolong from HouDe is another super tea from them. I have now tried all 3 of the oolongs and they are terrific. This one is a greener, spicy sweet tea, that survived being brewed in a kamjove without a thermometer and microwaved water, and was still delicious.

And this evening, ridiculously tired after too much work, drank some nice Tulsi (holy basil) to end the day.

Goodnight.

Shui Xien Oolong was our last tea of the night, too. The night suddenly turned quite cold here in Minneapolis, and the sweet caramel, honey, and roasted-ness was just what I needed to warm up before bed.

I really enjoyed your essay on the topic, Verandtt... Thank you for sharing!

And funny you should mention Harney & Sons' pomegranate (tie quan yin) oolong, Msmeghan- my friend gave me the very same tea a few years ago and I loved it. Its smell is reminiscent of a little scented box of confetti and potpourri beads a friend gave me in the fourth grade and it instantly took me back. I've bought it for myself since and I've been drinking it yesterday and today.

Formosa oolongs! It was one of those samplers from TFT. I just lit up and went "Oh, wow. Yum!"

But imagine my delight when I continued to get that from other teas (though not consistently), and the bells (that go dingdingdingding! We have a winner!) just got louder and louder. Long Feng Xia, Dong Ding... Pouchong! Alishan!! Being really new to the world of tea I'd rather not settle down on one type too early, but for now I will happily frolic along this particular path.

I was going to pick up my kettle to try to conquer some stubborn dancong, but it was announced that we were going out for dinner to celebrate Mother's Day. Happily I had a bottle of Four Seasons cold-brewing in the fridge. Will grab it when I head out the door. Hooray, occasional bouts of foresight. 8)
