Re: Tea Pets/Tea Mascots
Haha. That's probably why he is angry... most "extra" tea gets poured over my teapots. He usually just gets gaiwan scraps. Maybe I should let him swim around in my waste bowl instead.

Re: Tea Pets/Tea Mascots
Here is a Zhong Kui Tea Pet that I got a few years ago. He's pretty large, but I love him for his detail and bushy beard. He's 7.5 inches (19cm) long.
Zhong Kui is known in China as an eater of ghosts. According to legend, he was a person who ranked very high in the imperial examinations, but due to his appearance, the emperor rejected him. He dashed his brains out on the palace steps. He went to the underworld and was put in charge of troublesome ghosts. He eats the evil ghosts.
I'm not sure, but I believe he eats them with a bit of garlic and some soy sauce.

Awwww you got it!! When I saw your avie I figured you did. Congrats!! It is cute. I love the carving on the bottom. Now we need a pic on your tray so we can picture it in action, please. Did you say it squirts water?
Re: Tea Pets/Tea Mascots
I hope it doesn't, don't want water all over my table.Victoria wrote:Awwww you got it!! When I saw your avie I figured you did. Congrats!! It is cute. I love the carving on the bottom. Now we need a pic on your tray so we can picture it in action, please. Did you say it squirts water?
But I will confirm it once I officially use it for the first time this Fri (meaningful day) together with my new celadon teapot

Re: Tea Pets/Tea Mascots
Well I think for squirting, you have to soak it in water for awhile first, then when you pour the hot water over it happens. So if you don't - it won't.
