Definitely! I was wondering how much Celadon you have in that vast teaware treasure you have!IPT wrote:This is a fun topic. I am going to have to dig out some of my celadon.
Re: NEW! Celadon Show and Tell
I don't know how you do it, but you seem to find some very nice and quite unique teaware!Victoria wrote:Here are two of my favorite celadon cups. They are very small and so detailedl. A very unique dark olive color. They came from eBay last year.
There must be more CELADON out there!!
Pics please!!!
Re: NEW! Celadon Show and Tell
I think this has the potential to be my favorite thread on this forum! Absolutely love celadon.
I recently posted some pictures of a supposedly old (sold as 19th century; doubt it's true) celadon cup quite similar to those in the pictures posted by brandon. I won't double post, but if you're interested, you can see it at http://www.teachat.com/viewtopic.php?f= ... 35#p165259.
I might also have taken some pictures of some celadon pieces at the Shanghai Museum when I visited last year. I'll see if I can dig some up later this week.
I also really liked some modern "Koryo" celadon teaware and incense burners I saw in Korea but they were unfortunately out of my price range at the time. (That just means they're still there as an excuse to go back when I have more money, though.
)

Edit: I still can't get the PhotoBucket links to show the pictures even when reduced to 500 pixels wide.
EDIT by Chip: OK, it works, you are using the wrong url for posting photos.

Weird. OK, Britt, let me check this out. I have no problem posting your photos in my post, but when I attempt to do in in your post, it does not work. Weird.
EDIT: OK, works ...
For now, here is one of Britt's photos.

Thanks Debunix, Chip & Britt! Here's one more from my collection. A typical Korean celadon chawan with an inscribed design inside the bowl.

Re: NEW! Celadon Show and Tell
So what definitely *isn't* Celadon?
It is also popular in Taiwan for mass produced teaware to be made in a celadon color, but is simply a pigment, not a reduction.

From Ei Long.

Great celadon Cory, "Brandon" and Victoria ...
Ru Kiln, around 1-2 years old. Incredible feel. In the cup, an OTTI Round #5 section ... which will go live tonight.
The cups are used for oolong and pu-erh mostly.

I have seen Celadon, and Ru Kiln on the web site pages of Dragon Tea House and others, and whilst admiring have foregone the impulse to purchase.
But these from Victoria remind me (just) a tiny bit of some Borneol that I have purchased, more the colour than the flaky slates that can appear in Borneol. can someone start a Borneol thread, and will our knowledgeable artisans tell us all about Borneol.
One of mine

And maybe a rich teachatter will snap this up on ebay
