Reading would be my one interest that surpasses tea. Gardening is close as well, although for the last couple of years work has me a bit more lazy in that category. But I do get to enjoy past efforts along with my tea/reading hobbies with a great view!

Re: Weekend TeaRoom 11/6-7/10 NON tea interest?
This has been very interesting to read others interests! I never would've thought about perfume collecting.
It's hard for me to have just one interest at a time but tea is at the top right now. Even with that, each week I seem to have a different type that I'm a fan of...right now I'm on a white tea kick.
I also love to watch tv/movies, read and sculpt. My book tastes change also and right now I'm on a history kick...around the Manifest Destiny / Sitting Bull era.

My three loves beyond tea are (in order of importance): my family (my wife and my two kittens), vegan-ism, and paper-based role-playing games (specifically Dungeons and Dragons). So when I'm not reading about or drinking tea I am either cuddled up with my wife watching a movie, researching more vegan recipes, or preparing material for a night of D&D.
No tea yet today, but I am thinking of either some Dan Cong or Longjing before going over to see my wife's grandma (she has quite a habit of talking and I think I'll need the tea to remain alert).

A great weekend TeaRoom.
It seems tea matches some interests very well.
Tea lovers are into the fine arts - real connoisseurs - love art, music, writing, calligraphy, bonsai, photography.
There are collectors - oh that fits Pu Erh as we know
And they seem to be gourmets, love good food, wine, of course tea.
@debunix: great play of colours - hand over a cup
@JRS22: +1 on wanna see some beautiful mosaics
@proinsias: a little eccentric isn't it
- great collection; do you use them all?
@laura99: that is a great view for sure - what nice colours nature brings
Oh something about me:
I like reading, watching good movies - oh jea blockbusters too but especially Asian films. I like history, foreign cultures, travelling, nature and beautiness in our world, a fine meal and wine. I like body and mind control and everything you can do with it. Practicing meditation, autogenous training, solving riddles for the mind. Practicing Karate Do (affinity to Japan
), stretching, body work for the body.
Most of these things match tea very well. Some do not. Sometimes I loose myself into a thing that I forget about my tea and oversteep
And training needs a lot of time that does not accompany tea.
In my cup today, after some nice Shu Pu Erh, is a Wuyi Shui Xian.
ciao
Marco

Wow Laura, stunning view!
I started the day with Darjeeling but now moved on to Young Tree Baozhong from Tea Masters.

I'm vegan! Also, love to cook as a result, though I like to wing it more than following recipes(but I will sometimes look up some for inspiration).Leo_Blue wrote:...vegan-ism...

Sorry I've been away from TeaChat for a few days....... I was finishing a work cycle and a noborigama firing. The kiln is now cooling for three days.
Other interests ........ well, there is certainly clay at the top of the list. That is a total passion .......... but also falls into the realm of "work" so I am not sure it fits here.
In the winter I also teach (snow) skiing....and have for 40+ years. PSIA Level III certified, and former Ed. Staff member for the PSIA organization. But that is sort of "job related" in some ways too.
Totally "recreationally"........
I study Iaido..... Japanese swordsmanship.
And I'm really into flight simulation.
best,

I appreciate your interest. I have some photos in a flickr album which is sorely in need of updating. I think this url will get you there:IPT wrote:How about showing us some photos of your mosaics? Interesting thread for sure. Arts, in all forms, seem to go well with tea.
My other passion is fly fishing and fly tying, the latter of which is rarely done without tea (or occasionally a single malt scotch)
While I have been passionate about tea for about 10 years, I've enjoyed fly fishing for the last 23.
Drinking the last infusions of a TGY I started this afternoon, but then got too busy to finish. Still quite nice.

Cool, thanks JRS.
An odds and ends blend of some greener Taiwan oolong which actually turned out quite nice to finish the TD.

Tea drinking, listening to music, and reading are my top 3. The most relaxing part of my day is when I sit down after a stressful day with a cup of tea and just listen to music...
Re: Weekend TeaRoom 11/6-7/10 NON tea interest?
I do not know if this counts as a non Tea interest, but I have kept on getting more and more interested in ceramics, mostly teaware from Japan and Korea. My other main interest is Mathematics namely Graph Theory.

I'm glad to see another vegan on TC. I was wondering if I was going to get any comments from other vegans when I posted about my passion for vegan-ism. I usually wing it when I make things, but recipes really get my brain working on ideas. I just made some raw macaroons yesterday, and even though I altered the recipe a bunch they still turned out quite delicious.gargoylekitty wrote:I'm vegan!
