TreasureHunt Treasure 2 Clue 2 Anagama; bonus clues: Brody, Murph, and Rags (this is easy if you do one simple thing). (clue 1 was "While this wood will burn, I would say seasoned oak burns better.")

TIM,

Thanks for shedding some light on this difficult issue. But when it comes to master pots, I would personally never buy one unless I have the master themselves in front of me and certifying the particular pot being theirs.

Knowing that some collectors have spent real fortunes in Yixing pottery...it's not difficult to guess that crooks and opportunistic people want to become players of the game as well.

Many people think Ebay is totally full of fakes.

Not totally.

270776149253

This one was correctly listed yet sold on a maiden bid of £100.

Delftware (tinglazed earthenware) barely withstood the heat of boiling water, the glaze and clay body reacted at different speeds and cracks in the glaze allowed water to penetrate the non permeable clay body causing leakage and not many teapots survived.

This one is in Historic Deerfield, same flattened shape and dated 1691-1705

Mine is of similar period, blue and white came before polychrome.

No update from the Gotheborg board I'm afraid.

A Worcester teapot was sold on ebay.com for $200 and the English buyer sold it at Bonhams for $90k

Don't be disillusioned at my non participation in the delights of tea drinking.

The passion and enjoyment shown on these various threads has me interested in partaking of such delights.

I shall buy a pot to drink from and read some more on the ceremony and types of tea and their various tastes.

Getting back to Stoneware in Europe,Yixing teapots were first copied by Ary de Milde in the 1670's who earned himself the teapot baker.

There were a few others as well making unglazed red stoneware.

Apologies,it was a Worcester Creamboat

http://www.bonhams.com/cgi-bin/public.s ... ineNo=2193

There are also opportunities out there as the disparity between the european prices and the Chinese prices is vast.

Look at this iconic teapot

This is a forum for Tea Lovers

Tea Lovers who wish to Help Tea Lovers

Tea Lovers who can only afford commercial grade Tea and those who can afford Premium Tea and those who can afford Ultra Expensive Tea.

and Tea Lovers who want to acquire and use cheap teaware, quality teaware, superb teaware and exquisite teaware.

Any members who join PURELY to advertise and sell their own Tea or Teaware are swiftly banished.

Anyone who is here to exploit the members knowledge in order to make money, and does it in a covert fashion is going far beyond our fellowship rules.

I agree with those sentiments and am pleased none of them apply to me.

I came here to try and discover whether my piece was genuine, not to exploit anyone.

As a Pottery & Porcelain collector I have a number of teapots and can appreciate a quality piece of potting.

I am hamstrung on this occasion because I cannot show you the other Teapot marked Jiang Rong and am well aware and understand the scepticism of members who have posted on my item.

I explained my reasons for attempting to verify it in an open honest way.

There are numerous images under Zisha Green Teapot and when I look at them I can see spouts and handles that take away the balance of the piece.

Herb Master,my email address is victor.judge@btinternet.com

Send me a blank e=mail and I will attach larger pictures.
I am not particularly good with a camera and know nothing of cropping, etc.

May I also add,I did not bring up the subject of value, that was introduced by another member.

In addition I feel that it was wrong for someone to open up a new i.d on this thread and show the buyer and sellers details from Ebay.

They must have realised this was a naughty thing to do,otherwise they would have posted with their real i.d.

They have no subsequent posts.

I've been following this discussion, and I'm not sure who you're talking about when you say someone created an ID just to post ebay info on the thread--everyone who's given you information has been a long-standing member of Teachat, near as I can tell.

I do think it's rather off-putting, however, to start demanding apologies from people just because they're giving you information you don't want to hear. If you think they're wrong, why not just shrug and walk away? If you're that concerned about the provenance of your teapot, you'd be better off paying for an expert appraisal anyway ...

Just my two cents ... :?

Hi hope of Dawn.

The poster I mention is Dingshu who registered 8,8,2011 and posted their first post with the Ebay link.

Stockport ticketmaster than cast doubt as to my reasons for posting hence my request for an apology as he was totally wrong.

I didn't make the pot but it looks 10x better than any other green glazed Zisha pot that I have seen on various sites by lesser potters.

If it is not a Jiang Rong pot then it was made by a very good potter.

My lousy pictures do not do it justice.

I have no axe to grind,if it is not genuine then I am relieved and can keep it as a lovely piece.

If it is genuine there is no way I can sleep at night with such a valuable piece in the house.

Just my two cents...

Considering the design, mark, and distinctive scuff marks on the bottom in both photos, I'd say it's a safe bet.

Yes,one and the same.

A nice piece regardless of the genuineness or otherwise of the seal.
