Collected 3 dozen bone china cup & saucer sets in 3 months. Does that count? What's my prognosis???

Just suddenly got the urge to add bone china cups to my collection. Already have several gaiwans, tasting cups, gongfu pitchers, tea trays, gongfu tea tools, teapots ranging from 4 oz - 32 oz.

English tea cups are usually a good size (5-6 oz) to accept an infusion from a medium-large gaiwan. A happy blend of East and West. Sometimes teapots are just too complicated and pouty looking with that spout.

I'm afraid this may be a very severe case--finding another type of teaware to collect when you run out of other 'holes' to fill in your collection. The prognosis for complete recovery is grim, although temporary remission may be hoped for.

I was thinking the same thing (while wishing I had enough room for a collection like that).

Just yesterday I found myself wishing for brewing vessel that does not currently exist in my home collection, but today I had to again rearrange the teaware display to fit the present items. I'm not sure which will win out in the long run--that nagging feeling of 'why don't I find the perfect piece of teaware for this situation' or the reality check of 'really really really no room'.

I'm thinking of changing my answer from 'definitely TAD' to 'definitely not'. I've realized I'm actually a collector who appreciates fine handmade ceramics that also make great tea!

Purely by coincidence I just ordered two pieces of teaware by Kim Eung Cheol from Tead Off. A copper-glazed teapot and a copper-glazed server which are a bit larger than recent purchases. 200 ml is too large for Wuyi oolong but fine for silver needles and my 'medicinal' chamomile.

i seem to have had a little problem with Seong il's latest offering... just could not decide which one to take, so I got 4 (for the time being) of his little gems. A rather severe case of TAD, methinks

I would say that I have a case of TAD. I live in a small place with little room for collections of any kind. But thankfully the kind of teaware I am interested in is relatively small.

This year, I've bought quite a bit of teaware, starting with a stone tea table. I also got a small clay kettle and a couple of 100ml teapots from Lin's Ceramics studio. Oh and I also had to have a few stunning Petr Novak pieces. Now I'm looking for thin porcelain cups that are a bit less plain than the ones I have. No I do not have a problem.

My name is Tadpole, and I have TAD. It's mostly under control these days, thanks to limited amount of storage space in my immediate living area. I say immediate, but if I really wanted to, I could find ways to impose my living area over that of others, but this could get very complicated (and illegal) for one small Tadpole.

Another way to keep TAD in check is rotating my sets or groups of pieces that cooperate well together in function and aesthetics. I trick myself into seeing "new" sets, thereby refreshing my interest in what I already have. Put the rest away in boxes, to be seen again later in the future.

Today my purchase arrived from Artistic Nippon. I don't really need another pot, but I'd been admiring a particular style of kyusu on the site which fortunately for the budget are pricey enough that I could admire them in perfect safety. But last week a new pot was put up that pushed so many of the same buttons, and was utterly affordable.

And this, after I'd deliberately removed most of the teaware sites from my browser bookmarks so that it would take a few extra steps to get to them....unfortunately it's so easy to remember artisticnippon.com.

From the moment I started research on a little Yixing family piece the virus hit hard. It floored me when I tasted high mountain oolong for the first time. In the last couple of weeks I compulsively collected:

Sounds like you're doing fine. When you reach the point of having to buy a new tea to justify a new pot purchase to match to it....then you're in serious trouble.

Right now, it sounds like a mild case.
