For some of us I think it will be obvious who we got. If you get a brick (and I don't mean a tea brick) then you know it was me. Bwahahhaa.

If I get you then, fencer, I'm going to get you a giant bag of Lipton's nastiest tea bags.

I think I even have a coupon for Lipton's Nastiest Teabags® :?

I've heard some people agonizing over what to get their SS...and I've got to admit I've done some of that myself. In fact, when Salsero sent me a PM to get his SS's addy, I mentioned this particular dilemma, and he gave me some advice that put it all into perspective for me, so I thought I'd share it here:
Salsero wrote:I really like the approach (and may suggest it for the next SS event or even as a whole separate event after the new year) of looking through your stuff on hand and picking out something you would serve a TeaChat guest who happens to be dropping by unexpectedly. Nothing fancy, no show off, just a nice thought, a little hot water, cups, conversation, and a pleasant experience in common. A sort of surrogate tea party, a sharing in a cup of tea. I guess that sounds like the idea of the Second Best, doesn't it?

I like the thought. But I don't think I would just ship a bunch of half-consumed bags of tea from my stash. I do like the idea of sending something I'd serve to a guest. I'm more comfortable sending teas I know are good rather than something I've never tried...

Nice sentiment. I wouldn't mind going either way.

...we always knew you went either way...but it is good to get it out in the open anyway.

...along with a half-eaten candy bar. I meant to say something more like what you say with a lot more efficient use of words, namely:

*zing* That was unexpected from chip! lol :)

As for the idea, it sounds good to me-- I think the only worry is that people will get self-conscious about how "ordinary" their gift is, which was the whole goal of setting a price range (as far as I understood it, anyway), but I think we could deal.

For the guys who don't know Salsero...he buys *a lot* of tea. He's sent me at least 300 grams of nice Yunnan Gold, which I certainly wouldn't consider "half-consumed bags" or anything. And when he does a Second Best, he's sent me other randomness of things he's tried, which I've always appreciated--it's insane how much it broadened my palate.

Anyway, the idea I took from Sal's advice to me was to not stress and to send something you like--which doesn't have to be directly from your stash--as a token of fellowship instead of going crazy trying to find the perfect tea.

I am not worried one bit. I know my recipient will love my gift.

This is not hard, just give from the heart and in the spirit of giving joy...you cannot miss that way.

As for opening the gifts, should we agree to open them on the same day (presumably the 25th)?
