Huh... these results are surprising. You always hear about how San Francisco and Portland are the big tea centers in the US, but there seem to be way more people from other areas, especially the NE.
Maybe all the west-coasters just haven't woken up yet.

I'm in one of the coastal communities of New York, a brief train ride from Manhattan. Our claim to fame is that we enjoy the best of both worlds, big city and small village.
I enjoy the luxury of buying tea and teaware in person. It is a delight to go into a Japanese language bookstore and see several shelves of books on chanoyu.

So sorry about your loss, Russian Soul. It has certainly been a hard time for Tea Chatters of late...or maybe people are just feeling more comfortable sharing their current sorrows.
I hail from the northeastern US, more specifically New England. I grew up in Maine (in a part of the state that was an absolute tea desert....Still kind of is.) I've lived in Massachusetts for the past 16 years (college and beyond.) Happy to say that we're starting to get over the whole "Boston Tea Party" thing and are seeing an increased interest in tea.
Today I tried some Oolong #8. I kind of blew it though. It really just didn't come out as I'd expected - new tea for me. I might try again this afternoon. Then I'm thinking something green...
