I've been shying away from posting my thoughts on this tasting as I received two packs of the Fukamushi instead of one of each and have been too lazy to order any shincha with which to compare it with.
I'm actually quite glad of this as instead of an intellectual comparison I've been able to really enjoy lots of Fukamushi shincha.
The tea turned what would have been a few 'three or four tea' days into a few 'one tea' days, not even one day but also next morning. This cannot be a bad thing.
I can't really offer much scientific rigour but I can say that this is some fecking fantastic tea. It was not as in your face as I expected, possibly due to me consuming matcha and nothing else of Japanese origin for the past few weeks, but it was absolutely delightful. My fifth steep was left overnight and it would have been a great loss if it was poured down Britt's throat as it really made my day.
I'm not sure what to say in terms of taste that has not been said before other than it was beautiful, delicate and sweet.
I was contented drinking this offering until I looked over the itd tastings for the future and seen that there may be some gyokoro in the coming year that may rival this, I have a soft spot for gyokoro more than sencha/shincha.
As always, sorry for being late to the party.

I've finally had time to sit down and try both teas, and I must say they are the best greens I've ever had.
Miyabi was my favorite of the two. One of the few teas I call "heaven in a cup."
The supreme was the first fuka I've ever had, I can see why everyone likes it so much. I even went for the mythical 5th steep. It is really nice to have a tea that is this high quality.
Thanks Chip!

Also thanx to Joel for participating in hosting.
The 5th steep is btw a bit controversial. Britt and I almost had to meet in an alley to settle this issue on the GTF. I do not mind anyone disagreeing with my opinion...just don't ridicule it prior to trying...got it Britt!!!
BTW...the antifreeze green color is due mostly due to suspended particulate. If you allow it to settle, the color becomes less green and more yellow. Swirl it around, and you have green tea again.
Thus it is important to swirl as you drink lest the last of the liquor will be more astringent.
